Electrical Impedance Tomography Monitoring of Salt Transportation in Cellulose Hydrogel for Solar‐Driven Evaporative Desalination via Laser Defined Wettability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solar‐driven evaporation is a promising solution to the global water crisis; however, it faces a significant challenge of salt accumulation during the evaporation process. This study introduces an innovative in situ electrical impedance tomography technique for real‐time monitoring of salt transportation in the evaporator.

Sono‐Piezo‐Photosynthesis of Ethylene and Acetylene from Bioethanol under Ambient Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel sono‐piezo‐photocatalytic strategy enables the conversion of bioethanol to ethylene (C2H4) and acetylene (C2H2) under ambient conditions, addressing the limitations of conventional methods that are high‐temperature and energy‐intensive. By using an advanced graphene oxide/sodium bismuth titanate heterostructure catalyst, this work achieved ...

Comparison of ultrasound-guided high-intensity focused ultrasound ablation and surgery for abdominal wall endometriosis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Hyperthermia, 2018
Background: Surgery constitutes the standard approach for abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE), but is invasive. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation is effective and safe for the treatment of AWE, but no study has compared HIFU and surgery ...

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

Predicting skull lesions after clinical transcranial MRI-guided focused ultrasound with acoustic and thermal simulations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Transcranial MRI-guided focused ultrasound (TcMRgFUS) thermal ablation is a noninvasive functional neurosurgery technique. Previous reports have shown that bone marrow damage in the skull can occur at high acoustic energies. While this damage is asymptomatic, it would be desirable to avoid it.

A Visible Light‐Responsive Hydrogel to Study the Effect of Dynamic Tissue Stiffness on Cellular Mechanosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A visible light‐responsive polyacrylamide‐azobenzene hydrogel enables safe, reversible stiffness control for studying cell mechanobiology without harmful UV exposure. This approach reveals stem cells respond rapidly to mechanical changes, showing altered shape and protein distribution within one hour.

A fast full-wave solver for trans-abdominal high-intensity focused ultrasound treatment planning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a promising treatment modality for the non-invasive ablation of pathogenic tissue in many organs. Optimal treatment planning strategies based on high-performance computing methods are expected to form a vital component of a successful clinical outcome in which healthy tissue is preserved and accurate focusing
