Ethnic Differences in the Association Between SOD2 rs4880 and Hepatotoxicity in Pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Report From the REDIAL Consortium

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Treatment‐associated hepatotoxicity (TAH) is a common complication of pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treatment, but genetic risk factors remain poorly understood. We evaluated the SOD2 rs4880 variant in 544 children with ALL at Texas Children's Hospital. After adjusting for demographic and clinical covariates, the rs4880 C allele

Particle-number conserving analysis for the 2-quasiparticle and high-$K$ multi-quasiparticle states in doubly-odd ${}^{174, 176}$Lu

open access: yes, 2012
Two-quasiparticle bands and low-lying excited high-$K$ four-, six-, and eight-quasiparticle bands in the doubly-odd ${}^{174, 176}$Lu are analyzed by using the cranked shell model (CSM) with the pairing correlations treated by a particle-number ...

Why model high-k dielectrics?

open access: yesJournal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2002
AbstractNew dielectrics need more than a high dielectric constant. They need to satisfy various constraints concerning band offsets, limits on charge traps, processability, reproducibility, and stability against degradation and breakdown. It seems unlikely that purely empirical approaches will produce a dielectric which justifies major investment.

Efficacy and Safety Analysis of Roxarestat in Regulating Renal Anemia in Patients on Maintenance Hemodialysis

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To compare the efficacy and safety of roxarestat versus recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) in the management of renal anemia in patients undergoing maintenance hemodialysis. Methods This was a prospective, open‐label, randomized controlled trial.

Combining perturbation theories with halo models

open access: yes, 2011
We investigate the building of unified models that can predict the matter-density power spectrum and the two-point correlation function from very large to small scales, being consistent with perturbation theory at low $k$ and with halo models at high $k$.

Prioritizing conservation and participatory mapping of ethnomedicinal plant resources in Western Ladakh, Indian trans-Himalaya

open access: yesFrontiers in Forests and Global Change
IntroductionThe Himalayan region is home to a rich array of wild medicinal plants that play a vital role in providing livelihoods and health security of the local communities. However, excessive exploitation of these plant resources driven by the growing

Therapeutic Apheresis for Intravenous Methylprednisolone‐Refractory Neuromyelitis Optica Spectrum Disorder: Clinical and Radiological Outcomes in a Single‐Center Case Series

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a relapsing autoimmune disease of the central nervous system. High‐dose intravenous methylprednisolone (IVMP) is the standard first‐line therapy for acute attacks, although some patients remain refractory.

High-K Precession modes: Axially symmetric limit of wobbling motion

open access: yes, 2004
The rotational band built on the high-K multi-quasiparticle state can be interpreted as a multi-phonon band of the precession mode, which represents the precessional rotation about the axis perpendicular to the direction of the intrinsic angular momentum.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.
