Hydrogen Analyses of FSW Cu‐OFP Tested Under Creep Conditions in Sulphide Containing Environment

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Friction stir welded Cu‐OFP exhibits elevated creep rates in sulphide‐containing aqueous environments, with creep increasing as sulphide concentration rises. Hydrogen measurements indicate that sulphide exposure does not increase hydrogen content. ABSTRACT Friction stir welded oxygen‐free phosphorus‐doped copper (FSW Cu‐OFP) is a candidate material for

Simulation study of rock-breaking performance of TBM cone-shape cutterhead under different tunneling parameters in spiral tunnel

open access: yesScience Progress
Compared with plane cutterhead, the cone-shape cutterhead has better rock-breaking performance with a free surface during the rock-breaking process. Tunneling parameters of cone-shaped cutterhead have great influence on the rock-breaking efficiency and ...

Final disposal of radioactive waste

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
In this paper the origin and properties of radioactive waste as well as its classification scheme (low-level waste – LLW, intermediate-level waste – ILW, high-level waste – HLW) are presented.

Stability of High-Level Radioactive Waste Forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
High-level waste (HLW) glass compositions, processing schemes, limits on waste content, and corrosion/dissolution release models are dependent on an accurate knowledge of melting temperatures and thermochemical values. Unfortunately, existing models for predicting these temperatures are empirically-based, depending on extrapolations of experimental ...

Dumpsite Seabed Characterization of the San Pedro Basin, CA, From Autonomous Vehicle Observations

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A wide‐area seabed survey was conducted using autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) in a known dumpsite off the coast of Southern California that has been found to have widespread sediment contamination from the chemical dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT).

Modified Fisher distribution model for fracture orientations with antipodal symmetry

open access: yesShuiwen dizhi gongcheng dizhi
The statistical characteristics of structural plane orientations in fractured rock mass are usually described by Fisher distribution model, which maps the normal direction determined by dip angle and dip direction to random points on a unit sphere.

EU Space Law and Earth's Boundaries: Integrating Environmental Impact Assessment and Corporate Due Diligence

open access: yesGlobal Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The European Union's proposed Space Law aims to establish a unified approach for sustainable space activities across the EU. While the EU's satellite constellations contribute to sustainability efforts, they can also have negative environmental impacts.

Depositional processes of varved sediments from proglacial Lago Frías since 1800 CE (North Patagonian Andes, Argentina)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The glacierized Valle Frías in Northern Patagonia is one of the best‐studied valleys in South America and includes varved sediments from Lago Frías. We complement this lacustrine record with a high‐resolution documentation of varve counts and their composition.

Solution Synthesis of Actinide Chalcogenide and Oxychalcogenide Nanoparticles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 36, 1 September 2026.
We report the synthesis of UOS, UOSe, and US2 nanoparticles under colloidal conditions. The magnetic properties were measured of all three materials and compared to prior studies of UO2 nanoparticles. Nanoparticle phases were determined using powder diffraction, and size by transmission electron microscopy.
