In this work we consider a popular machine learning method, classification and regression trees. We discuss the algorithm and proceed in development from scratch, with hardware implementation in mind. We give our algorithm details, verify its correct functionality in GNU Ada and proceed with high level synthesis, via our CCC framework tool.

Algorithms for high-level synthesis
IEEE Design & Test of Computers, 1989Synthesis algorithms that offer a technique for scheduling operations and allocating registers and buses in light of both timing constraints and available hardware resources are presented. They enhance current scheduling techniques by using a global priority function that minimizes storage, interconnections, and functional unit cost.

High-Level Synthesis: A Retrospective
2008High-level Synthesis or HLS represented an ambitious attempt by the community to provide capabilities for “algorithms to gates” for a period of almost three decades. The technical challenge in realizing this goal drew researchers from various areas ranging from parallel programming, digital signal processing, and logic synthesis to expert systems. This

Optimizations in high level synthesis
Microprocessing and Microprogramming, 1986Abstract Computer aided synthesis of circuit structures from behavioural level specifications has become a standard procedure in the design of integrated circuits. One disadvantage of several existing synthesis systems is their lack of efficiency with respect to chip area and processing speed.

High level synthesis with testability constraints
Proceedings of IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems - ISCAS '94, 2002In this paper, a new approach to high-level synthesis testability evaluation is introduced. This approach consists of two phases: abstraction and propagation. In the abstraction phase, the function's primitive testability measures are abstracted from their oBDD representation.

Introduction to High-Level Synthesis
1991Advanced microelectronic capabilities are widely regarded as essential for an advanced industrial base. Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) circuits are used ubiquitously in industrial products, and are critical to the progress of many fields. The competitiveness of the electronic industry requires ever-decreasing design and fabrication times for ...

User Guided High Level Synthesis
2008This paper presents a High Level Synthesis (HLS) method for specialized coprocessors in embedded systems. In recent years, the synthesis of hardware systems has moved to a higher level of abstraction, but the existing tools leave very little initiative to the designer.

The integration of logic synthesis and high-level synthesis
IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003The relationship between high-level synthesis and logic synthesis is investigated and the factors that influence the interface between them are discussed. It is contended that there must be close integration of the two synthesis processes if automatic synthesis of efficient designs from behavioral specifications is to be useful.
