RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE KINETIC POWER AND BOLOMETRIC LUMINOSITY OF JETS: LIMITATION FROM BLACK HOLE X-RAY BINARIES, ACTIVE GALACTIC NUCLEI, AND GAMMA-RAY BURSTS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The correlation between the kinetic power P-jet and intrinsic bolometric luminosity L-jet of jets may reveal the underlying jet physics in various black hole systems.

The Formation of Cirrus‐Like Water and Carbon Dioxide Ice Clouds in the Venusian Upper Haze Region

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract The upper haze region of the Venusian atmosphere (∼70–100 km) experiences localized cooling, probably due to gravity waves, creating transient cold pockets. Water ice clouds may form in these cold pockets when sulfuric acid droplets undergo hygroscopic growth and subsequent freezing.

Very high energy gamma ray observations of southern hemisphere blazars [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
This thesis is concerned with very high energy γ-ray observations of blazars observable from the southern hemisphere. The data presented were obtained using the recently deployed University of Durham Mark 6 high sensitivity Čerenkov telescope. Chapters 1

The bulk kinetic power of radio jets in active galactic nuclei? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Based on the Konigl's inhomogeneous jet model, we estimate the jet parameters, such as bulk Lorentz factor Gamma, viewing angle theta and electron number density n(e) from radio very long-baseline interferometry and X-ray data for a sample of active ...

Probing the C iv Continuum Size–Luminosity Relation in Active Galactic Nuclei with Photometric Reverberation Mapping

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Letters
Reverberation mapping accurately determines virial black hole masses only for redshifts z < 0.2 by utilizing the relationship between the H β broad-line region (BLR) size and the 5100 Å continuum luminosity established with ∼200 active galactic nuclei ...

Liquid Metal Nanotransformers for Drug‐Resistant Pan‐Cancer Therapy in Patient‐Derived Organoids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 36, 29 June 2026.
Pan‐cancer therapies are severely limited in drug‐resistance patients due to genetic mutations and other factors, resulting in poor therapeutic outcomes and constrained clinical benefit. Liquid metal nanotransformers, a new class of shape‐transformable nanomaterials capable of dramatic morphological changes, offer a promising physical strategy to ...

The properties of discrete X-ray sources in star-forming galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Observations of starburst galaxies have revealed a large number of point-like X-ray sources located within these systems, including active galactic nuclei (AGN), X-ray binaries (XRBs), and utraluminous X-ray sources (ULXs).

Radio sources in the Chandra Galactic Bulge Survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We discuss radio sources in the Chandra Galactic Bulge Survey region. By cross-matching the X-ray sources in this field with the NRAO VLA Sky Survey archival data, we find 12 candidate matches.

The Fundamental Signature of Star Formation Quenching from AGN Feedback: A Critical Dependence of Quiescence on Supermassive Black Hole Mass, Not Accretion Rate

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
We identify the intrinsic dependence of star formation quenching on a variety of galactic and environmental parameters, utilizing a machine-learning approach with Random Forest classification.
