Audio at low and high power

ESSCIRC 2008 - 34th European Solid-State Circuits Conference, 2008
An overview is presented of recent developments in the analog boundaries of the audio chain. The main focus is on class-D amplifiers that are by now almost standard in consumer applications and emerging in automotive and mobile applications as well. Further, an overview of the state-of-the-art in A/D and D/A conversion is given.

A High Power Welding Rectifier

Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1934
A welding rectifier embodying the ``ignitron'' principle, a recent development in a program of research on mercury arc rectifiers, provides predetermined welding currents for periods of time variable in steps of 20 sec, or less if desired. This paper describes the design and operation of the ``ignitron'' and illustrates its applicability to the ...

High-Power Duplexers

IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques, 1961
The various circuit arrangements used in duplexers are analyzed in terms of their power-handling ability in two situations: first, where the bandwidth is narrow so that insertion loss determines maximum Q, and second, where large bandwidths are required and the maximum Q is determined by available Q band-width products.

High Power Electronics

Soviet Physics Uspekhi, 1962
Electronic processes are used on an ever expanding scale in modern electrical engineering. Yet there is one field where electronics still finds little application. Indeed, electronic processes are widely used in measuring instruments (cathode ray oscillographs, photocells, high-frequency measuring devices, amplifiers, etc.), in cybernetics (automation,

High power ultrasound standard

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002
A sensitive radiation force balance for laboratory measurement of ultrasonic power is presented. The principle of the system is based on measuring the ultrasonic radiation force exerted on a conical float suspended in water. Technical details of the implementation of the economically attractive system are described.

High Power Fiber Lasers

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2017
• Optical fibers are an extraordinary active medium… • …but thermal effects cannot be simply neglected anymore. • Recently a serious new limitation has been discovered: Mode Instabilities. • This has quickly become the most limiting factor for the futher scaling of fiber systems.

High Power Laser Diodes

2006 IEEE LEOS Annual Meeting Conference Proceedings, 2004
The 20-year-evolution of high-power laser diodes with a multitude of device designs that explore various practical applications is presented. The four major applications for high-power diode lasers, namely pumps for EDFAs, YAG rods, disk lasers and fiber lasers have a tremendous impact on the selection process in this evolution.

Application of IGCT in High Power Rectifiers

2008 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2008
This paper investigates the possibility of applying IGCT (Integrated Gate Commutated Thyristor) into high current high power rectifier systems. The optimal power converter topology that fully utilizes the functionality of IGCT is proposed. The proposed power converter consists of a front-end diode rectifier and 3-level step-down DC/DC converter.
