Crowning Carrots with a High Pressure Water Jet

Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1988
A crown trimming technique was investigated in an attempt to reduce the high produce loss associated with processing carrots. Carrot crowns have been cleanly trimmed at simulated rates as high as 20 t/h with the use of a high pressure water jet. The relationship between orifice diameter, carrot diameter, and water pressure necessary for an acceptable ...

[Damage pattern caused by high pressure water jets and high pressure water abrasive jets to the hand].

Handchirurgie, Mikrochirurgie, plastische Chirurgie : Organ der Deutschsprachigen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Handchirurgie : Organ der Deutschsprachigen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Mikrochirurgie der Peripheren Nerven und Gefasse : Organ der V..., 1998
Water and abrasive water jets have been developed as efficient tools for different purposes in industrial manufacturing, cleaning and dismantling, and--experimentally--in drilling and milling. In contrast to other high pressure techniques, these machines produce power densities up to 250 kW/mm2.

High-pressure water jet injuries: a surgical emergency

Journal of Wound Care, 2000
Injuries from high-pressure jet devices are surgical emergencies characterised by small entry wounds with extensive internal damage. Three factors are involved in these injuries. Physical injury can include local soft tissue disruption and vascular and nerve damage; chemical properties of the injectate can exacerbate compressive vascular injuries with

High-Pressure Water Jet Injuries

SPE International Health, Safety & Environment Conference, 2006
Abstract Our hands serve many purposes. Hands help us eat, dress, write, earn a living, create art, and do many other functions and daily chores. To do these tasks and activities, our hands require sensation and movement, such as joint motion, tendon gliding, and muscle contraction.

A Case of a Ruptured Eyeball Caused by High-Pressure Water Jets

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2018
To report the case of a ruptured eyeball caused by high-pressure water jets. In this study, the right eye of a 49-year-old male was injured by high-pressure water jets while he was engaged in demolition work. Upon examination, remarkable hyphema and vitreous hemorrhage were observed in the injured eye.

Major Vascular Injury from High-Pressure Water Jet

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1996
High-pressure water jets are used in industry as a cleaning and cutting tool. Penetrating injuries by these devices can produce minimal external evidence of extensive internal damage. We report a literature review and the case of a limb-threatening injury to the lower extremity caused by such a device.

High-pressure water jet injury to the pharynx, requiring intubation

The Journal of Laryngology & Otology, 2006
We report a case of upper airway obstruction following high-pressure water jet injury to the pharynx incurred from a car wash jet. Injuries from high-pressure water jets are relatively rare and, to the best of our knowledge, airway obstruction as a result has not been reported.

Study on Jet Formation and Modeling for High Pressure Abrasive Water-Jet

Key Engineering Materials, 2011
High pressure abrasive water jet (HPAWJ) machining has many advantages in hard brittle material processing. In this paper, the hole formation on stone by HPAWJ is analyzed based on brittle and plastic fracture theories. The formation and construction of jet are studied.

Fatigue Simulation of High Pressure Water Jet Cylinder

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
The development of abrasive water jet cutting technology needs much higher reliability requirements of water cutting system. As one of the core parts in pressure generating system of water jet cutting, the High-pressure cylinder should have a stable fatigue life. The materials of the high-pressure cylinder are 34CrNi3MoA and AISl4340, and the stress of
