Starburst Galaxies at High Redshift

1997
The properties of ultraluminous and hyperluminous galaxies are reviewed and it is argued that the majority of the far infrared radiation from these galaxies is powered by starbursts. The evidence that the starburst population is also seen in the sub-mJy radio source-counts is reviewed and a model for the source-counts from radio to X-rays is presented.

Cosmology with Galaxies at High Redshifts

1991
Following some remarks on the methodology of the classical cosmological tests, recent observations of galaxies at high redshift are examined to see whether they place any constraints on the cosmological models. It is concluded that, at least at present, they do not.

Galaxy Morphology at High Redshift

2014
The morphology of galaxies at high redshift ranges from elliptical and spiral to clumpy, including chains, clump clusters, doubles and tadpoles. Clumpy galaxies observed in the Hubble Ultra Deep Field at redshifts z = 1–5 contain star-forming complexes that are hundreds of times more massive than those forming in local galaxies, reflecting the more ...
