High-resolution mineral dust modeling

2022
<p>Dust emissions are linked with wind forces through a non-linear relationship. As a result, small errors in modelled wind speed lead to large errors in modelled dust emission. Dust models usually show satisfactory behaviour when dust outbreaks are caused by synoptic-scale weather systems.

High Resolution Urban Hydrologic Modeling

World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2012, 2012
America’s cities have confronted local climate change (i.e. the “heat island” effect, and increased storm runoff) for many decades; now, global climate change presents new planning and design challenges. Because of the size of cities and complexity of urban drainage systems, planning has typically been conducted at a relatively large scale with sub ...

High-resolution Martian atmosphere modeling

Icarus, 1980
A multilayer radiative transfer, high-spectral-resolution infrared model of the lower atmosphere of Mars has been constructed to assess the effect of scattering on line profiles. The model takes into accout aerosol scattering and absorption and includes a line-by-line treatment of scattering and absorption by CO2 and H2O. The aerosol complex indices of

High-Resolution Thunderstorm Modeling

2020
Since the dawn of the digital computing age in the mid-20th century, computers have been used as virtual laboratories for the study of atmospheric phenomena. The first simulations of thunderstorms captured only their gross features, yet required the most advanced computing hardware of the time.

High Resolution Soil Vehicle Interaction Modeling*

Mechanics of Structures and Machines, 1998
ABSTRACT In the development of a virtual proving ground for evaluating performance of off-road vehicles, the interaction between soil and the vehicle system must be accurately modeled. Typically the soil/vehicle interface can involve large discontinuous deformations of the soil mass.

Modeling of a high resolution inductive transducer

International Conference on Magnetics, 1990
An inductive angular position sensor is presented which, in contrast to a synchroresolver, is windingless. The geometry was optimized to generate a perfectly sinusoidal variation of the inductance over an electric pitch. The distortion rate between a sinusoidal curve is given as a function of the different geometrical parameters.

High‐resolution gravity model of Venus

Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets, 1992
The anomalous gravity field of Venus shows high correlation with surface features revealed by radar. We extract gravity models from the Doppler tracking data from the Pioneer Venus Orbiter (PVO) by means of a two‐step process. In the first step, we solve the nonlinear spacecraft state estimation problem using a Kalman filter‐smoother. The Kalman filter

High resolution combat models

2000

High Resolution Of IR Scene Model

SPIE Proceedings, 1987
A FORTRAN program has been written to produce a high spectral and spatial resolution simulation of a scene viewed by a downlooking IR sensor. The scene generation method used allows the specification of a detailed scene at an acceptable cost in machine storage.
