Modeling Of High Resolution Digital Retinal Imaging [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991, 2005
High resolution digital images of the retina can be obtained by photography with a Zeiss fundus camera followed by digitization of the photographic slide with a high resolution scanner. A complete model of this imaging system is developed based on its four components; the eye, the camera, the film and the scanner.

VERY HIGH-RESOLUTION 3D SURVEYING AND MODELLING EXPERIENCES IN CIVIL ENGINEERING APPLICATIONS [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2022
In this paper some experiences in 3D modelling of objects with very high-resolution are described, carried out by the DICAM Geomatics group of the University of Bologna in multi-disciplinary contexts within the field of the Civil Engineering.

The very faint X-ray binary IGR J17062-6143: a truncated disc, no pulsations, and a possible outflow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present a comprehensive X-ray study of the neutron star low-mass X-ray binary IGR J17062-6143, which has been accreting at low luminosities since its discovery in 2006.

A high resolution global scale groundwater model [PDF]

open access: yesHydrology and Earth System Sciences, 2014
Abstract. Groundwater is the world's largest accessible source of fresh water. It plays a vital role in satisfying needs for drinking water, agriculture and industrial activities. During times of drought groundwater sustains baseflow to rivers and wetlands, thereby supporting ecosystems.

High Resolution Modelling of Traffic Emissions Using the Large Eddy Simulation Code Fluidity

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2022
The large eddy simulation (LES) code Fluidity was used to simulate the dispersion of NOx traffic emissions along a road in London. The traffic emissions were represented by moving volume sources, one for each vehicle, with time-varying emission rates ...

Detailed Inundation Modelling Using High Resolution DEMs [PDF]

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2010
AbstractWith the availability of high resolution DEMs, relevant and detailed inundation maps may now be routinely computed provided that suitable flow models are available. The full 2D flow model presented in this paper has been used to compute such maps on 800 km of the main rivers of the Walloon Region in Belgium.

Monsoon intra-seasonal variability in a high-resolution version of Met Office Global Coupled model

open access: yesTellus: Series A, Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 2017
Intra-seasonal oscillation (ISO) is a key ingredient of the East Asia and western North Pacific (EAWNP) summer monsoon and particularly important for seasonal forecast.

Protein structure modelling and evaluation based on a 4-distance description of side-chain interactions

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2010
Background Accurate evaluation and modelling of residue-residue interactions within and between proteins is a key aspect of computational structure prediction including homology modelling, protein-protein docking, refinement of low-resolution structures,

Simulations of stellar convection, pulsation and semiconvection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We report on modelling in stellar astrophysics with the ANTARES code. First, we describe properties of turbulence in solar granulation as seen in high-resolution calculations.

High-resolution radiative transfer modelling of M33 [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
ABSTRACT In this work, we characterize the contributions from both ongoing star formation and the ambient radiation field in Local Group galaxy M33, as well as estimate the scale of the local dust-energy balance (i.e. the scale at which the dust is re-emitting starlight generated in that same region) in this galaxy through high ...
