Late Quaternary sedimentation in the Strait of Bosporus: High-resolution seismic profiling

Marine Geology, 1989
Abstract Uniboom profiling supported by borehole data in the southern part of the Bosporus revealed that close to its banks Holocene sediments are underlain by the faulted slopes of a valley cut in many places into the Palaeozoic bedrock. Away from the banks the sediments thicken and their boundary with the underlying Pleistocene deposits is defined ...

High resolution seismic profiles adjacent to Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, Washington

Open-File Report, 1976
Approximately 120 km of high-resolution seismic reflection profiles were recorded in the environs of Whidbey and Fidalgo Islands, Washington from the U.S. Geological Survey's research vessel DON J. MILLER on January 14 and 15, 1976. These data were^ obtained to provide information on the thickness and distribution of Quaternary deposits to identify ...

Pushing the Limits of High-Resolution in Marine Seismic Profiling

Journal of Environmental and Engineering Geophysics, 2000
It has become commonplace to record high-resolution marine seismic profiles in digital format and to base the choice of sampling rate on the traditional assumption that seismic signals are of limited bandwidth. The truth is that seismic signals are causal and the Heisenberg uncertainty principle prohibits causal signals being bandlimited.

High-resolution seismic reflection coefficient calculation using a chirp sub-bottom profiler

2013 IEEE/OES Acoustics in Underwater Geosciences Symposium, 2013
High-resolution seismic data were collected by the Bert Instruments Inc. Company at the South-American Continental Shelf using EdgeTech SB-0512i sub-bottom profiler with frequency band from 500 Hz to 12 kHz. Core samples were taken along with 3 seismic sections in reason to allow detailed analysis of the layers which reflection coefficients were ...

Anatomy of a transgressive tidal inlet reconstructed through high-resolution seismic profiling

Geomorphology, 2019
Although the morphology and morphodynamics of modem tidal inlets have been analysed in a wealth of studies, these systems can be considered representative only for highstand conditions, while little is known about the characteristics and evolution of their transgressive counterparts.

Multiple Pleistocene ice advances into the Skagerrak: A detailed seismic stratigraphy from high resolution seismic profiles

Marine Geology, 1993
Abstract A detailed Pleistocene seismic stratigraphy is proposed for the Skagerrak, an over 700 m deep, elongated depression in the northeastern North Sea. By comparing our high resolution seismic results with those from glacial environments of Canada, Alaska and Antarctica, we conclude that at least during the Weichselian (if not also during the ...
