Multiphase Tectonic Process With Slab Dynamics in the Northern East China Sea Shelf Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Megasequence 1 characterised by Palaeocene extension and differential subsidence driven by the rollback of the subducting Izanagi Plate. Megasequence 2 records a kinematic reorganisation of the East Asian margin, transition from a rifting to a compressional regime.

Seismic Sequence Stratigraphy Applied to Reservoir Recognition and Evolution on Marine Carbonatic Ramp—Macaé Group (Albian to Cenomanian) of Campos Basin

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A classic oil producing interval of the Campos Basin—Macaé Group is revisited through seismic stratigraphic analysis, providing a stratigraphic framework, characteristic depositional and relative time positioning for several complex structural settings.

Large Gas Reservoir Along the Rift Axis of a Continental Back‐Arc Basin Revealed by Automated Seismic Velocity Analysis in the Okinawa Trough

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2019
In the Okinawa Trough off southwestern Japan, hydrothermal circulation due to back‐arc rifting is active. Biogenic CH4 in discharging hydrothermal fluids at the Iheya North Knoll is derived from outside the knoll; however, the location of the gas ...

The Glacial Legacy of the Geneva Basin: Morphology and implications of an intricate tunnel valley system revealed from 3D seismic data

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Like other perialpine basins and glaciated margins, the Geneva Basin in SW Switzerland is characterised by buried tunnel valleys, which are elongated incisions widely attributed to subglacial meltwater erosion beneath continental ice sheets. However, an inclusive understanding of the geological control on the evolution of the glacial landscape

High-resolution, high-fold seismic reflection profile across a landfill

open access: yes3rd EEGS Meeting, 1997
Fast and inexpensive methods for exarnining waste disposal sites are becoming increasingly important. We have tested reflection seismic techniques for mapping the depth extent of a landfill.

A Coupled Extended Finite Element–Cohesive Zone Model for Hydraulic Fracture Propagation Under Poroelastic Effects Across Different Propagation Regimes

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Numerical simulation of hydraulic fracturing remains challenging due to the strong coupling between geomechanics and fluid flow when modelling multiple physical mechanisms of rock deformation, fracture evolution and fluid leak‐off. This study develops a coupled hydraulic fracture propagation framework that combines the extended finite element ...

A Sensitivity Analysis Workflow for Power Series Compounded Lifetime Models: Evidence From Weibull Power Series Fits

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose a practical procedure to quantify the time varying influence of parameters on hazard functions for power series compounded lifetime models. The procedure combines likelihood based fitting with a two stage sensitivity analysis and applies to a range of baselines and compounding laws.

Holocene stratigraphy of the Dead Sea: Correlation of high‐resolution seismic reflection profiles to sediment cores [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1999
The northern basin of the Dead Sea is occupied by a ∼300‐m‐deep lake. A series of cores in the deep‐water part of the lake provide information about the top 365 cm of the sediments. The cores were correlated with high‐resolution 3.5‐kHz seismic profiles from this area and provide lithologic and age constraints for the high‐resolution seismic reflection
