The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Harnessing Fungal Biowelding for Constructing Mycelium‐Engineered Materials
Mycelium‐bound composites (MBCs) offer low‐carbon alternatives for construction, yet interfacial bonding remains a critical challenge. This review examines fungal biowelding as a biocompatible adhesive, elucidating mycelium‐mediated interfacial mechanisms and their role in material assembly. Strategies to optimize biowelding are discussed, highlighting

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the various aspects related to high-rise habitat. Another major function of high-rise habitat in addition to supporting floor loads is to provide protection from the elements—from wind, rain, lightning, and earthquake. Fire and blast are additional design criteria.

There are two categories of high rise buildings that will be discussed in this chapter. There are your regular high rise buildings, and then there are your super high rise buildings. From a fire protection standpoint, the regular high rise buildings are the ones where the fire department is not going to be able to fight the fire from the ground.
