Design of optimized tread profile for high-speed EMUs
To address two significant issues in high-speed electric multiple units (EMU), i.e. degraded vehicle dynamic performance under existing wheel-rail interactions and increased wheel tread wear at elevated operating speeds, this paper proposes an optimized tread profile design that balances wheel-rail interactions, dynamic performance, and wear resistance.

Multiple breaks in lending rate pass-through A cross country study for the euro area [PDF]
A new approach to search for structural breaks in the retail lending rA new approach is proposed for searching multiple unknown breaks, possibly associated with EMU, in the short term business lending rate pass-through.

Nucleation‐Controlled Reconstruction of CuOx for Selective CO2 Electroreduction
The ratio of oxygen vacancies (Ov) and exposed Cu2O (111)/(200) of CuOx precatalyst is modulated by nucleation control of Cu(OH)2 precursor. Low Ov ratio and high ratio of Cu2O (111)/(200) in slow‐nucleated CuOx reconstructs to high‐coordinated oxide‐derived copper (OD‐Cu) during electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) and exhibits enhanced ...

Lithiation‐Driven LiCrSe2 Shell Growth on Metallic CrSe2 Core Governs the Plateau–Slope Behavior
Layered CrSe2 is investigated as a lithium‐ion battery cathode combining fast Li+ diffusion and structural reversibility. Calculations and experiments reveal a single topotactic intercalation process with a characteristic plateau–slope profile governed by lithiation‐induced conductivity changes. A core‐shell lithiation evolution underpins its high‐rate

International Space Station Spacecraft Charging Hazards: Hazard Identification, Management, and Control Methodologies, with Possible Applications to Human Spaceflight Beyond LEO [PDF]
In this paper, we present an overview of how the International Space Station (ISS) safety engineering methodology directed to controlling extravehicular activity (EVA) crew electrical shock hazards, caused by ISS spacecraft charging, has evolved over the

This work pioneers a non‐invasive route for strain engineering of quantum states at complex oxide interfaces, making use of supercritical CO2 as a tunable “strain field” to induce room‐temperature ferromagnetism in 3D LaAlO3/SrTiO3 composites. Structural and chemical analyses confirm the magnetism is strictly interfacial and driven by lattice tensile ...

Current Account Imbalances and Structural Adjustment in the Euro Area: How to Rebalance Competitiveness [PDF]
Low international competitiveness of a set of euro area countries, which have become evident by large current account deficits and rising risk premiums on government bonds, is one of the most challenging economic policy issues for Europe.

Helmeted hornbill cranial kinesis: Balancing mobility and stability in a high‐impact joint
Abstract Prokinesis—in which a craniofacial joint allows the rostrum to move relative to the braincase—is thought to confer diverse advantages in birds, mostly for feeding. A craniofacial joint would, however, be a weak link if cranial stability is important. Paradoxically, we have identified a craniofacial joint in helmeted hornbills (Rhinoplax vigil),

On price convergence in Eurozone [PDF]
We investigate price level convergence with Germany in eleven countries belonging to the Eurozone between January 1970 and July 2011. Relying on smooth transition regression models, we show that the price convergence process is nonlinear, depending on ...
