IEE Colloquium on European Directives - Their Impact on Systems Engineering, 1996
EU directives are aimed at removing barriers to trade. Many existing directives emphasise safety issues because national safety regulations have often presented barriers to trade. However it is to be expected that as technology develops directives will need to address fundamentally new issues rather than merely regularising existing arrangements.

A Testbed for Evaluating LTE in High-Speed Trains
2013 Euromicro Conference on Digital System Design, 2013LTE is expected to substitute GSM as the basis technology for railway communications. Recently, special attention has been deserved to HST as this particular environment (mainly due to the high speed condition) can severely impact wireless systems performance. Although several channel models have been derived during the few last years, most of them are

Distributed Cooperative Control of a High-speed Train
2019 American Control Conference (ACC), 2019The distributed cooperative control problem for high-speed train is investigated in this paper. Cars in a high-speed train are modeled as a group of ordered particles connected by flexible couplers. Each car is viewed as an intelligent agent that communicates with its neighbors, making the train a multi-agent system.

The analysis of high-speed wheel-rail train and high-speed maglev train safety systems
Proceedings of ICSSSM '05. 2005 International Conference on Services Systems and Services Management, 2005., 2005The high-speed wheel-rail traffic system was built in the 1960's, and then the relative technology was continually innovating. At the same time, the maglev experiment lines were built in Germany and Japan. The first high-speed maglev traffic commercial railway line in the world was built in Shanghai of China in 2003.

Seamless LTE connectivity in high speed trains
2014 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2014High speed train (HST) is becoming one of the preferred mid-range transportation and the on-board Internet service is a must for train operators. LTE networks paved the road toward high quality and cost effective on-board Internet in HSTs. However, frequent handovers (HO) for several onboard users overload sequentially cells along the train-track and ...
