Turbulence‐Intensity Effects on the Aerodynamic Performance of an H‐Type Darrieus Wind Turbine: A URANS Parametric Study

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Turbulence intensity from 1% to 25% was parametrically tested on a three‐bladed H‐type Darrieus rotor across five tip speed ratios (TSRs) using two‐dimensional URANS. The optimal TSR proved the most efficient and most robust operating point simultaneously, with Cp losses capped at 5.8% even at TI = 25%. ABSTRACT The effect of inlet turbulence intensity

Battery Degradation Reduction in Flywheel–Battery Hybrid Energy Storage Using SSA‐Optimized Fuzzy‐PI Control

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
SSA‐optimized fuzzy‐PI control reduces battery stress in flywheel–battery hybrid energy storage systems by shifting transient power fluctuations to the flywheel. The strategy decreases ampere‐hour throughput by 46.1% and rainflow damage by 71% while maintaining stable DC‐bus regulation.
