High-speed visualization of thermal plasma characteristics

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
Thermal plasmas are expected to be utilized for a number of industrial applications, such as nanomaterial synthesis and waste treatment. The thermal plasma generation and its characteristics remain to be explored for more attractive processing. In particular, the electrode dynamics are one of the most considerable issues for the practical use of ...

High-speed visualization of flame propagation in explosions

Journal of Visualization, 2001
Flow visualization data is presented to describe the structure of flames propagating in methane-air explosions in semi-confined enclosures. The role of turbulence is well established as a mechanism for increasing burning velocity by fragmenting the flame front and increasing the surface area of flames propagating in explosions.

High speed network issues in a distributed visualization application

Proceedings Supercomputing '92, 2003
The author examines the issues in creating an UltraNet TCP/IP socket-based distributed application. The visualization computation is performed on a Connection Machine, and the results are rendered using a Silicon Graphics 4D/320 VGX workstation. The UltraNet network facilitates high-bandwidth communication between the computers.

A High Speed Automated Visual Inspection System

SPIE Proceedings, 1986
A description is given of an image processing system under development at UWIST. This is capable of a throughput of up to ten automated visual inspection tasks per second. When fully developed it will be a turnkey system for the factory floor. Running under control of an MC 68000 based host, it uses a linear array processor (LAP) designed at the UK's ...

Winding manipulator based on high-speed visual feedback control

2017 IEEE Conference on Control Technology and Applications (CCTA), 2017
Controlling a robot to manipulate objects dexterously is an important research field in robotics. In particular, casting manipulation is a manipulation in which an end effector is attached to a robot, and the robot projects it in order to grasp a distant object.

High-speed visualization of cavitation evolution around a marine propeller

Journal of Visualization, 2019
Nowadays, a lot of types of digital high-speed video camera are available with a wide range of image rates. The new camera technology has made it possible to observe the cavitation on a propeller. However, until recently cavitation on ship propellers is observed visually using the so-called time-lapse observations.

Real-time visualization of network attacks on high-speed links

IEEE Network, 2004
This article shows that malicious traffic flows such as denial-of-service attacks and various scanning activities can be visualized in an intuitive manner. A simple but novel idea of plotting a packet using its source IP address, destination IP address, and the destination port in a 3-dimensional space graphically reveals ongoing attacks.

Visual attention for high speed driving.

2019
Coupling of control and perception is an especially difficult problem. This thesis investigates this problem in the context of aggressive off-road driving. By jointly developing a robust 1:5 scale platform and leveraging state of the art sampling based model predictive control, the problem of aggressive driving on a closed dirt track using only ...
