Ultra High Strength Concrete

PCI Journal, 1967
A COMMISSION WAS ESTABLISHED ON METHODS OF ACHIEVING HIGH- STRENGTH CONCRETE TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE EFFECTIVE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF CONCRETE CAN BE SUBSTANTIALLY INCREASED SO THAT PRESTRESSED CONCRETE MAY BECOME NOT MERELY AN ECONOMIC STRUCTURAL MATERIAL OF ATTRACTIVE CHARACTERISTICS, BUT A MATERIAL OF HIGH SPECIFIC STRENGTH AS WELL.

Extensibility of high-strength concretes

Materials and Structures, 1992
This paper analyses the extensibility under flexural loads of concretes with 28-day compressive strength levels up to 80 MPa. The major variables studied were loading rate, aggregate type, testing age and the environmental (moisture) conditions. It is shown that extensibility increases with concrete strength but its variation is smaller than that of ...

Confinement of High-Strength Concrete

SP-176: High-Strength Concrete in Seismic Regions, 1998
Recent research on confinement of high-strength concrete (HSC) is reviewed. The emphasis is placed on the effects of confinement parameters and related experimental research. A review of analytical models proposed for HSC is also presented. The results indicate that for similar strength and deformability, HSC requires higher confinement pressure than ...

Carbonation of High Strength Concrete

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011
High strength concrete consisting of binary and ternary blended cementitious systems based on ordinary Portland cement, pulverised fuel ash and silica fume were investigated for carbonation. PFA up to 40% was used and to these blends 0, 5, 10, and 15% SF was incorporated as partial cement replacement.

Fine-Grained High-Strength Concrete

Materials Science Forum, 2019
The factors determining the production of fine-grained high-strength concrete are considered. The effect of micro-and complex nanodisperse additives based on natural mineral components, as well as the packing density of the quartz aggregate, on the strength parameters of fine-grained concrete is studied.

High strength concrete for prestressed concrete girders

1991
This paper illustrates that the use of high strength concrete allows increasing the span of prestressed girders with given cross section. It is also indicated that for a given span length, girder spacing can be significantly increased. These benefits are demonstrated by means of numerical examples, which give formulae to calculate the maximum span ...

Properties of High-Strength Concrete

Cement, Concrete, and Aggregates, 1986
Abstract This paper presents data related to the development of high-strength concrete with special emphasis on the development of high early strength. Both these objectives were achieved by using an ultrafine portland cement with a specific surface of about 750 m2/kg or a high early strength portland cement with about 75% tricalcium ...

High Strength Pervious Concrete

Pervious concrete is increasingly being utilised in the construction of driveways, parking lots, and pavement in many industrialised nations. Testing must be done to assess the performance of this new kind of high-performance concrete in order to establish material specifications for pervious concrete. Additionally, the manufacturing of Portland cement

Fibre reinforced high-strength concrete

1993
The publication comprises two experimental parts. In the first part, 14 different kinds of steel, polypropylene and polyacrylonitrile fibres are studied in order to make high-strength fibre-reinforced concrete. The effect of fibre type and volume on the load-deflection behaviour of FRC is studied and discussed.
