Enhanced visible light photocatalytic performance of CdS sensitized TiO2 nanorod arrays decorated with Au nanoparticles as electron sinks

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
In this paper, we propose a nanostructure with Au nanoparticles (NPs), as electron sinks, located at the most outside layer of CdS sensitized TiO2 nanorod arrays (TiO2 NRAs/CdS/Au).

SMGAN: A self-modulated generative adversarial network for single image dehazing

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Single image dehazing has become a key prerequisite for most high-level computer vision tasks since haze severely degrades the input images. Traditional prior-based methods dehaze images by some assumptions concluded from haze-free images, which recover ...

High Tech Professionals Are Hard to Organize Too [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
[Excerpt] It is unlikely that any technical and professional employees will be organized in non-union high tech firms until more blue-collar production workers become union members.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.

DECISÕES DE DESINVESTIMENTO POR PARTE DAS EMPRESAS DE CAPITAL DE RISCO [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Building upon the equilibrium model of Jeng and Wells (2000) and prior research, we study the determinants of the European venture capital market, adding up the unemployment tax, the trade sale exit and the market/book ratio. We collected aggregated data

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Tech Starts: High-Technology Business Formation and Job Creation in the United States [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
New and young businesses -- as opposed to small businesses generally -- play an outsized role in net job creation in the United States. But not all new businesses are the same -- the substantial majority of nascent entrepreneurs do not intend to grow ...

Non Thermal‐Driven Photocatalytic Ammonia Decomposition at Near‐Room Temperature on a Plasmonic Nanocone Array

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic photocatalytic ammonia decomposition occurs at near‐room temperature on a plasmonic Au nanocone array under visible light illumination. The nanostructure efficiently harnesses plasmonic modes, leading to increased reaction rates upon plasmon decay.

Ladder‐Type Benzene‐Perylene Dyes with Efficient Laser Properties in the Near‐IR by Detracting/Activating Low/High Frequency Vibronic Modes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The NNR‐n series of oligomeric nanographenes delivers exceptional emission performance. This work shows that this performance is originated by their ladder‐type structure, which effectively deactivates low‐frequency vibronic modes. This deactivation neglects the main pathway for non‐emissive deactivation, even in the near‐infrared region. The potential
