High-Temperature Gaseous Oxidation

2009
So far this text has considered the corrosion of metals or alloys in aqueous environments. However, when a metal or alloy is exposed to an oxidizing gas, corrosion may occur in the absence of an electrolyte, especially at high temperatures. This phenomenon is sometimes called “dry corrosion” as opposed to “wet corrosion” which occurs in the presence of

Hydrocarbon Oxidation at High Temperatures

Berichte der Bunsengesellschaft für physikalische Chemie, 1983
AbstractThe detailed knowledge of combustion mechanisms is important, for example for the control of (kinetically determined) pollutant formation (e.g. NO, hydrocarbons, soot), for ignition problems, or for the extrapolation to technologically important but experimentally inaccessible condition.

High Temperature Oxidation of Ammonia

Combustion Science and Technology, 1972
Abstract Results are given for ignition delays of ammonia-oxygen-argon mixtures after shock heating to temperatures between 1570 and 2460 °K. Three pressure regions were used (0.2 to 0.3, 3.3 to 5.3 and 27.2 to 44.4 atm). Absorption spectroscopy showed the presence of NH, OH and NO before explosion.

The high temperature oxidation of nickel

Corrosion Science, 1982
Abstract The oxidation of pure Ni has been studied over a temperature range of 1173–1573 K under 1.01 bar oxygen. The oxidation kinetics, the oxide growth and the metal recess obey parabolic time relationships. The dependence of the parabolic rate constant for oxidation can be expressed as: K p = 7.95 × 10 −2 exp (− 220.9/ RT ) with the ...
