Intelligent computing based converter fault identification in line commutated high voltage direct current transmission line

2017 1st International Conference on Electronics, Materials Engineering and Nano-Technology (IEMENTech), 2017
Line commutated converter based high voltage transmission line suffers from converter faults where the converter experiences commutation failure of the device. This fault occurs when the ac voltage drops or the short circuit occurs and is more frequent in the inverter.

Damping of current oscillation in superconductive line applied for high voltage direct current transmission system

IEEE Transactions on Applied Superconductivity, 1993
The application of a superconductive transmission line to a high-voltage direct-current transmission system is considered. However, unstable phenomena similar to an AC system are introduced. The authors suggest installing a damper circuit, which consists of an inductor and a resistor in parallel, to prevent such instabilities.

Causal theory on acceleration of seed germination in the vicinity of high voltage direct current transmission line

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2021
Seed germination is the primary stage of growth in a seed. A wealth of experiments exist in literature to support the existence of correlation between seed germination to the electric and magnetic fields. This becomes more important as researchers have suggested to develop technologies to build ecologically clean and environment-friendly solutions to ...

An Improved Method for Fault Analysis in Asymmetrical High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Lines

2019 International Conference on Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering (UPCON), 2019
In this paper a simple technique using wavelet for asymmetrical HVDC lines is studied. Wavelet analysis is carried out using various wavelets to different levels and one suitable wavelet is chosen as mother wavelet. Approximate coefficients are selected and standard deviations of approximate coefficients are used as input.

Analysis of Lightning-attractive Areas Around High-voltage Direct Current Transmission Line

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2009
Abstract This article studies attractive areas around high-voltage direct current transmission lines due to downward lightning leader presence. The lightning-attractive areas are drawn for power conductors and shielding wires separately to distinguish the shielding failure area.

A Method for the Indirect Detection of Audible Noise From High-Voltage Direct Current Transmission Lines

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2020
Corona discharge will occur on high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines with the increase in voltage level, accompanied by audible noise, radio interference, and other phenomena. Audible noise has a serious negative impact on the lives and health of the residents around transmission lines.

Analysis of High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Lines Bus Voltages Using Load and Component Sizing Method

2023
The financial consequences and inherent inefficiencies of the alternating current system necessitate investigating the application of direct current technology, particularly for high-voltage transmission lines. The direct current network has significant benefits; thus, this study suggests a 132 kV direct current transmission line that extends from the ...

A fault location method based on genetic algorithm for high‐voltage direct current transmission line

European Transactions on Electrical Power, 2012
SUMMARYA fault location method based on genetic algorithm for high‐voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line is proposed in this article. This method adopts the Bergeron model of transmission line, in which the voltage at any point of the line can be calculated by the voltage and current data sampled at both terminals of the line, and the fault ...

Energy management of WSN-based charge measurement system of ultra high-voltage direct-current transmission line

Wireless Networks, 2016
With the construction of ultra-high-voltage direct current (UHVDC) transmission lines, the complex electromagnetic environment around the lines has been a widespread concern. The ZigBee-based field measurement system is widely used in ground space charge density measurements of HVDC transmission projects.
