Sharing reserves through HVDC: Potential cost savings in the Nordic countries

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2021
During summer 2018, the Nordic system's kinetic energy dropped below a critical level. As a consequence, Svenska kraftnät, the Swedish transmission system operator, requested the largest production unit to reduce its power output to guarantee system's ...

Effects of Bulk and Surface Conductivity on the Performance of CdZnTe Pixel Detectors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We studied the effects of bulk and surface conductivity on the performance of high-resistivity CdZnTe (CZT) pixel detectors with Pt contacts. We emphasize the difference in mechanisms of the bulk and surface conductivity as indicated by their different ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

A Study for the Measurement of the Minimum Clearance Distance between the 500 kV DC Transmission Line and Vegetation

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
High voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission is being widely implemented for long-distance electrical power transmission due to its specific benefits over high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission.

Novel pilot protection principle for high‐voltage direct current transmission lines based on fault component current characteristics

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2015
For high‐voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, the transient fault current characteristics are that: if the fault point is over the line, the fault component current measured at both converter stations would be increased and they have the same changing direction.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

Study on pollution flashover characteristic of insulators on 500 kV AC transmission lines in high-altitude area

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
Pollution flashover performance of insulators is one of the key factors to be considered in the selection of external insulation for transmission lines at high-altitude areas.

Influence of aerosols on the ion‐flow field under high‐voltage direct current transmission lines

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution, 2016
In this study, the influence of aerosols on the ion‐flow field has been researched by numerical calculations and experiments. The steady‐state model of ion‐flow field, considering the aerosols, is developed and solved by finite‐element finite‐difference method.

Intercalation events visualized in single microcrystals of graphite. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The electrochemical intercalation of layered materials, particularly graphite, is fundamental to the operation of rechargeable energy-storage devices such as the lithium-ion battery and the carbon-enhanced lead-acid battery.
