Combined scalable and mutiview extension of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)

2013 Picture Coding Symposium (PCS), 2013
The scalable and multiview extension of High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) is being designed to support scalable layers and multiple views at the same time. Applications of the combined scalable and multiview HEVC coding include scalable stereoscopic video (e.g. 1080p stereo to the emerging 4K stereo), mixed resolution multiview coding, etc.

Rate control algorithm for high efficiency video coding (HEVC)

2014
Video coding is the process of compressing and decompressing a digital video signal, which has been widely used in TV broadcasting, video streaming, video conferencing and DVD applications. Considering the output bit rate of the video encoder varies over time due to the changes of scene activities, rate control has been introduced to adjust the bit ...

Overview of the multiview high efficiency video coding (MV-HEVC) standard

2015 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2015
This paper reviews the multiview extension (MV-HEVC) of the High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard. MV-HEVC is capable of multiview video coding with or without accompanying depth views. The key design concepts and design elements of MV-HEVC are described in the paper.

Edges based intra-prediction in High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard

2016 IEEE International Conference on Engineering and Technology (ICETECH), 2016
HEVC (H.265) standard is the latest enhanced video coding standard which was planned to improve the rendered specifications of its preceding standard MPEG-4 (H.264). The main goal of the HEVC standardization effort is to enable significantly improved compression performance relative to existing standard H.264. For similar video quality, HEVC bitstreams

Fast Coding Unit (CU) Depth Decision Algorithm for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC)

2014
In this paper, we propose a fast CU depth decision algorithm for high efficiency video coding (HEVC) technology to reduce its computational complexity. In 2Nx2N prediction unit (PU), the proposed method compares to rate-distortion (RD) cost and determines the depth using the compared information.

A New Saliency Model Using Intra Coded High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) Frames

2014
The computation of visual attention is an exhaustive procedure to locate conspicuous regions within a frame, which contrast with the surrounding background. In this paper we propose a unique algorithm to estimate visual saliency in the compressed domain using intra-coded frames from High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoded video sequences.
