Use of the Bootstrap in a High Energy Physics Experiment

1992
This note describes the use of the Bootstrap in a High Energy Physics experiment. A typical experiment [1] in this field might involve collection of 100 million “events”, (collisions of subnuclear particles) each described by 1K-500K Bytes of information. Each of these events must be analyzed to deduce the kinds of particles involved.

Computer Interfacing for High-Energy Physics Experiments

Annual Review of Nuclear Science, 1975
The intent of this article is to outline the factors that influence the choice or design of the data-handling components, and their organization into systems useful for a class of high-energy physics experiments. The class is the one sometimes described by that rather loose term, ''on-line.'' It includes those experiments in which data are acquired ...

Moderate energy ions for high energy density physics experiments

Physics of Plasmas, 2004
This paper gives the results of a preliminary exploration of whether moderate energy ions (≈0.3–3 MeV/amu) could be useful as modest-cost drivers for high energy density physics experiments. It is found that if the target thickness is chosen so that the ion beam enters and then leaves the target in the vicinity of the peak of the dE/dX (stopping power)

Scintillation Detectors in Experiments on High Energy Physics

2017
Scintillation counters have been serving as one of the main particle detector for more than hundred years. By now a number of scintillation detectors types and detector systems were developed and used widely in high energy physics experiments to detect charged and neutral particles in a large energy range from 1 keV to hundreds of GeV.

Pre-therapeutic Physical Experiments with High Energy Protons

The British Journal of Radiology, 1961
Methods of beam control and dosimetry for radiological work with a 187 MeV proton beam have been described. The results of measurement of absorption and distribution of dose have been reviewed with reference to the possible application of accelerated light atomic nuclei to radiotherapy of tumours and to intracranial radiosurgery.

Strings of Experiments in High-Energy Physics: The Upsilon Experiments

Historical Studies in the Physical and Biological Sciences, 1994
