Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Characterization of the thermal properties of entropy stabilized oxides and high entropy diborides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Entropy stabilized oxides and high entropy diborides are promising new materials capable of withstanding extreme environments consisting of high temperatures and pressures. In these novel materials, thermal characterization is essential for understanding

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Entropy‐Controlled Exsolution of Highly Dispersed Nickel‐Based Active Metals From Spinel Oxide via Optimizing Metal‐Support Interaction for Dry Reforming of Methane

open access: yesCarbon Energy
Sintering and coking are critical barriers to achieving high performance in dry reforming of methane (DRM) catalysts. A finely dispersed and thermostable Ni‐based catalyst is the key to address these issues.

Microstructure Reconstruction in Battery Electrodes Using Machine Learning Based on Low‐Voltage Focused Ion Beam–Scanning Electron Microscopy Tomography Images

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Co-expression of multi-genes for polynary perovskite electrocatalysts for reversible solid oxide cells

open access: yesNature Communications
High-entropy LnBaCo2O5+δ perovskites are explored as rSOC air electrodes, though high configuration entropy (S config) alone poorly correlates with performance due to multifactorial interactions.

Recent advances in the application of high-entropy materials in lithium-based anodes

open access: yesEnergy Reviews
Lithium-ion batteries constitute the cornerstone of modern energy storage. However, commercial graphite anodes are increasingly limited by their theoretical capacity and energy density.
