FEBS Letters, EarlyView.Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

An epithelial GPR35 isoform supports tumor‐associated transcriptional and metabolic phenotypes
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.GPR35 generates two functionally distinct isoforms with previously unresolved roles. GPR35‐short mediates immune‐cell chemotaxis, while GPR35‐long is enriched in colorectal cancer epithelium, where it supports increased metabolism, proliferation, and tumor‐associated transcriptional programs.

Investigating the impact of high frame rates on video compression [PDF]
2017 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP), 2017 In this paper we investigate the impact of frame rate variation on HEVC video compression, and demonstrate that high frame rates (60+ fps) can lead to increased perceptual quality, notably in high bitrate environments. In order to quantify content dependence, a novel way of partitioning video sequences into categories is proposed.

Structural and biochemical analysis of a B12 superbinder
FEBS Letters, EarlyView.BtuG proteins are vitamin B12 scavengers in Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, a dominant human gut bacterium. We present crystal structures of three BtuG homologs bound to cobalamin and its precursor cobinamide, revealing picomolar binding affinities, among the highest known for any natural protein.
