Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Revisiting high-frequency oscillatory ventilation in vitro and in silico in neonatal conductive airway

open access: yesClinical Biomechanics, 2017
Background High frequency oscillatory ventilation is often used for lung support in premature neonates suffering from respiratory distress syndrome. Despite its broad use in neonatal intensive care units there are to date no accepted protocols for the ...

Advanced Separators for Liquid and Quasi‐Solid Lithium Rechargeable Batteries: Design and Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review traces the evolution of lithium‐ion battery separators from passive barriers to multifunctional components central to cell safety and performance. Polymer‐ceramic hybrids, nanofiber architectures, and bio‐derived membranes deliver ionic conductivities above 3 mS cm−1, thermal stability beyond 200 °C, and effective suppression of lithium ...

Morphology‐Controlled Silica Nanoparticle Coatings for Transparent Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Transparent radiative cooling coatings are achieved by immobilizing solid and hollow silica spheres on glass. Particle morphology within sub‐monolayer coatings is shown to govern the trade‐off between visible and atmospheric window reflectance. Hollow‐sphere structures enable reduced thermal emission losses while preserving transparency, highlighting ...
