A high gain acoustic transducer (200) is formed of a voice coil (218) and a magnetic material (238) housed within a transducer housing (202). The transducer housing (202) includes flexible, symmetrical dome halves (204, 206). Vibrations of the magnetic material (238) of the transducer (200) induce a current in the voice coil (218).

Beryllium was incorporated in InGaAsN single quantum well (SQW). Comparing with the conventional InGaAsN SQW structures, photoluminescence (PL) investigations show a significant improvement. After 3000 sec of annealing at 700 °C, the PL peak area is about 20 times higher while the wavelength keeps 25 nm longer.

Improvements in the performance of high gain microchannel plates over the conventional Chevron are reported. The performance characteristics of a curved channel, a laminated MCP and a Chevron with an interposed mesh are reported. The curved channel MCP exhibits a pulse amplitude distribution as narrow as 45% FWHM at a gain of 106, whereas the laminated

Various methods of measuring small currents and voltages with particular reference to the theoretical and practical limits of such measurements are discussed. Most of the methods described employ thermionic valves to amplify the signals to a level suitable for indication on a robust instrument. The more important methods of converting the signal into a

A modular high-gain antenna, installed at a relatively low height, has been shown to provide link budget improvement over a large part of the serviced cell, including near the cell border which shows the potential for larger site separations. Signal strength below the relatively narrow main beam is maintained by using null-filling.

High gain decentralised control
IEE Proceedings D Control Theory and Applications, 1993Decentralised control of an interconnected power system is attempted using high gain feedback methodology. Two cases are presented treating the interactions as unknown in the first case and as known in the second case. The effect of interactions is nullified by using a high gain factor in the first case whereas a bound on the high gain factor is ...

High-Gain Avalanche Photodiode
Physics Today, 1997As optical communications systems get faster and faster, approaching 10 Gbit/second, near-infrared receivers are struggling to keep pace with them. What's needed are avalanche photodetectors with enough gain to amplify the much shorter pulses that come in at these higher bit rates.
