Hydrogel‐Based Functional Materials: Classifications, Properties, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Conductive hydrogels have emerged as promising materials for smart wearable devices due to their outstanding flexibility, multifunctionality, and biocompatibility. This review systematically summarizes recent progress in their design strategies, focusing on monomer systems and conductive components, and highlights key multifunctional properties such as

Making the Invisible Visible: Magnetic Fields in Accretion Flows Revealed by X-Ray Polarization

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Large-scale, strong magnetic fields are often evoked in black hole accretion flows, for jet launching in the low/hard state and to circumvent the thermal instability in the high/soft state.

X-ray bursters and the X-ray sources of the galactic bulge [PDF]

open access: yes
Type 1 X-ray bursts, optical, infrared, and radio properties of the galactic bulge sources, are discussed. It was proven that these burst sources are neutron stars in low mass, close binary stellar systems.

Ultra‐Durable Information‐Encoded Anti‐Counterfeiting Self‐Assembled Nanocrystal Labels

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Ultra‐durable cost‐effective information‐encoded anti‐counterfeiting labels are fabricated to secure semiconductor chips. A novel method is used to self‐assemble colloidal quantum wells (CQWs) into color bars. Information can be encoded spatially, spectrally, and opto‐spatially.

Discovery of a 459 Hz Burst Oscillation in XTE J1810−189 with NICER

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a detailed temporal study of a type I X-ray burst from the neutron star low-mass X-ray binary (NS-LMXB) XTE J1810−189, observed on 2023 April 27 using the Neutron Star Interior Composition Explorer.

High-Energy Spectra of Black Hole and Neutron Star Low-Mass X-Ray Binaries

open access: yesUniverse
In the case of low-mass X-ray binaries, the companion star is often too faint for detection; therefore, there is no chance for dynamical studies to independently determine the mass of the compact object. In the absence of a mass estimate, one cannot make a distinction as to whether the binary hosts a black hole or neutron star.

TacScope: A Miniaturized Vision‐Based Tactile Sensor for Surgical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
TacScope is a compact, vision‐based tactile sensor designed for robot‐assisted surgery. By leveraging a curved elastomer surface with pressure‐sensitive particle redistribution, it captures high‐resolution 3D tactile feedback. TacScope enables accurate tumor detection and shape classification beneath soft tissue phantoms, offering a scalable, low‐cost ...

Spectral Study of Very-high-energy Gamma Rays from SS 433 with HAWC

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Very-high-energy (0.1–100 TeV) gamma-ray emissions were observed in High-Altitude Water Cherenkov (HAWC) data from the lobes of the microquasar SS 433, making them the first set of astrophysical jets that were resolved at TeV energies.

A Self‐Healing Permanent Magnet Putty for Soft Robot Skins With Force Sensing and Functional Recovery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Permanent magnet putty (PMP) integrates high‐coercivity NdFeB particles with a dynamic polyborosiloxane–Ecoflex matrix, achieving rapid self‐healing (90% mechanical recovery in 10 s) and magnetic recovery within 20 min. With twice the sensitivity of commercial putties, PMP enables precise 5–30 N force detection and discrimination between pressing and ...

Unraveling the Mysteries of KS 1947+300: Multiwavelength Observations in a Low-eccentricity Be/X-Ray Binary

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
KS 1947+300, a Be/X-ray binary system, has been observed to experience both type I and type II X-ray outbursts despite its nearly circular orbit, which is atypical according to the viscous decretion disk model. To understand the variations in optical and
