OUCopula: Bi-Channel Multi-Label Copula-Enhanced Adapter-Based CNN for Myopia Screening Based on OU-UWF Images [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Myopia screening using cutting-edge ultra-widefield (UWF) fundus imaging is potentially significant for ophthalmic outcomes. Current multidisciplinary research between ophthalmology and deep learning (DL) concentrates primarily on disease classification and diagnosis using single-eye images, largely ignoring joint modeling and prediction for Oculus ...

Pathological Myopic Image Analysis with Transfer Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We present a summary of transfer learning based methods for several challenging myopic fundus image analysis tasks including classification of pathological and non-pathological myopia, localisation of fovea, and segmentation of optic disc.By adapting existing popular deep learning architectures, our proposed methods have achieved 1st and 2nd place in ...

Die now of hunger or later of thirst: Understanding climate change adaptation decisions in vulnerable contexts

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Research on organizational climate change adaptation has focused on high‐income nations, neglecting vulnerable regions already facing severe climate impacts. This study addresses this gap by examining how decision‐makers in vulnerable contexts respond to climate change, drawing on a unique panel dataset of over 3000 ...

Metacognitive Myopia in Large Language Models [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Large Language Models (LLMs) exhibit potentially harmful biases that reinforce culturally inherent stereotypes, cloud moral judgments, or amplify positive evaluations of majority groups. Previous explanations mainly attributed bias in LLMs to human annotators and the selection of training data.

Harmonizing NAD+ metabolism with CeMOF nanozyme to orchestrate intraocular pressure modulation for glaucoma treatment

open access: yesVIEW, EarlyView.
Our findings demonstrate that NAD+ metabolism dysregulation contributes to elevated intraocular pressure in glaucoma. Supplementation with NAD+ precursors reduces IOP by alleviating oxidative stress, cellular senescence, and extracellular matrix deposition.

Causal Links Between Corneal Biomechanics and Myopia: Evidence from Bidirectional Mendelian Randomization in the UK Biobank

open access: yesBioengineering
Background: Myopia is a leading cause of visual impairment worldwide, and accumulating evidence suggests that biomechanics may be closely linked to its development.
