Introduction to High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC)

2023
This chapter discusses chromatography, classification of chromatography, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and how high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) is an advanced version of TLC. In brief, this chapter also discusses the advantages and the areas where the HPTLC technique can be used.

Determination of cortisol in guinea pig urine by high performance thin-layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, and thin-layer chromatography/radioimmunoassay

Chromatographia, 1997
In order to collect urinary samples from unrestrained guinea pigs, animals were kept in their familiar home cages with wood shavings for bedding. Cortisol was removed from shavings by a simple washing step, and an attempt was made to measure its concentrations by high performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC), high performance liquid chromatography

Rapid microanalysis of anticonvulsants by high-performance thin-layer chromatography

Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1981
A rapid microanalytical method is described for phenobarbital, phenytoin, primidone and carbamazepine utilizing high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC). This procedure incorporates a single extraction of a 50-microliter plasma sample.

High-performance thin-layer chromatography method for inositol phosphate analysis

Journal of Chromatography B: Biomedical Sciences and Applications, 1999
A simple and inexpensive high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method for the analysis of inositol mono- to hexakisphosphates on cellulose precoated plates is described. Plates were developed in 1-propanol-25% ammonia solution-water (5:4:1) and substance quantities as low as 100-200 pmol were detected by molybdate staining. Chromatographic

Comparison of high-performance thin-layer with overpressured layer chromatography combined with direct bioautography and direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry for tansy root.

Journal of Chromatography A, 2019
Bioactive polyacetylenes in tansy (Tanacetum vulgare L.) root extract were separated by overpressured layer chromatography (OPLC) with better resolutions than achievable by capillary flow high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC). OPLC enabled a

New solvent system for high-performance thin-layer chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography of gangliosides

Journal of Chromatography A, 1987
New solvent systems consisting of acetonitrile, isopropanol and aqueous 50 mM potassium chloride or 2.5 M ammonium hydroxide were developed for the separation of gangliosides by high-performance thin-layer chromatography. These solvent systems seem to be superior for the resolution of polysialogangliosides such as tetra-, penta- and hexasialo species ...

Comparison of quantitative high performance thin layer chromatography and the high performance liquid chromatography of parabens

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 1997
A method is described for the densitometric determination of the p-hydroxybenzoic esters and p-hydroxybenzoic acid in mixtures or in drugs. This method is compared with the one used in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The calibration curves were linear in interval 0.250-3.60 mumol ml-1 per 200 nl per spot.
