The role of neural crest cells in the development, organisation and migration of the thymus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Neural Crest (NC) derived mesenchyme has previously been shown to play an important role in the early development of the foetal thymus. Using Wnt1-Cre and Sox10-Cre mice crossed to Rosa26eYfp reporter mice, NC derived mesenchymal cells were revealed in

Designing Vanadium‐Based Oxide Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting: Experimental and Mechanistic Insights with Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review establishes structure‐property‐mechanism relationships across six modification strategies for V‐based oxide water‐splitting electrocatalysts: lattice engineering, heteroatom doping, interface engineering, carbon‐based hybridization, morphology engineering, and surface reconstruction and pre‐catalyst design, where dissolution is reframed as ...

A Review on Design Parameters for the Full-Cell Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesBatteries
The lithium-ion battery (LIB) is a promising energy storage system that has dominated the energy market due to its low cost, high specific capacity, and energy density, while still meeting the energy consumption requirements of current appliances.

Stereometric Molecular Engineering for Ultra‐Stable Aqueous Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Stereochemical configuration of molecular additives greatly influences interfacial adsorption at the Zn surface. The optimal tilted dual‐anchored adsorption geometry of myo‐inositol constructs a water‐deficient interface and regulates the solvation structure.

State Estimation Approach of Lithium-Ion Batteries by Simplified Ultrasonic Time-of-Flight Measurement

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This work presents an approach to monitoring the State-Of-Charge of Lithium-Ion battery cells via piezo disc-based ultrasonic Time-Of-Flight measurement by measuring the traveling time of a mechanical pulse through the cell between two surface-mounted ...

Nano Borophene as a Programmable 2D Scaffold for Organized DNA Assembly and Long‐Range Energy Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Borophene is introduced as a programmable 2D bio‐interface that organizes DNA through dual boron–sulfur and nucleobase interactions. This molecular architecture enables efficient long‐range nanosurface energy transfer, establishing new design principles for functional nano–bio interfaces and amplification‐free optical biosensing.

Dipole-dipole interaction-induced dense primitive solid-electrolyte interphase for high-power Ah-level anode-free sodium metal batteries

open access: yesNature Communications
High-energy and resource-abundant anode-free sodium metal batteries suffer from limited lifespan owing to dendrite growth and rapid capacity fading at early stages, particularly at high rate and high capacity.

Bidirectional Soft Catalysts for Improved Power Performance of Li-S Batteries. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
A soft polymer‐metal catalyst is integrated into the binder to create a catalytically active microenvironment that accelerates bidirectional sulfur redox kinetics in lithium‐sulfur batteries. A model polyvinyl alcohol‐Cu catalyst enables high areal capacities at demanding current densities and stable cycling in pouch‐cell prototypes at 0.5 C, achieving

Polymer Side‐Chain Electronic Effects Regulating Solvation Sheath for Low‐Temperature and High‐Voltage Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work reveals the influence of polymer side‐chain electronic effects on the Li+ solvation sheath in gel polymer electrolytes. Electron‐donating side chains induce the strong Li+ coordination and FDMA‐dominated solvation, impeding Li+ desolvation, whereas electron‐withdrawing side chains weaken Li+ coordination, facilitating anion‐rich solvation and

Engineering a Fluorinated AlPO4 Interface: Toward High Initial Coulombic Efficiency and Stable Oxygen Redox in Li‐Rich Layered Oxide Cathodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We report a chemically incorporated fluorinated AlPO4 (AlPO4‐F) architecture that functions as a multifunctional “interfacial fortress” for Li‐rich layered oxides (LLOs). By modulating the surface potential to –32.16 mV, this architecture enriches Li+ concentration and repels detrimental electrolyte anions.
