Industrial Semi‐Solid Rheocasting of Aluminum A356 Brake Calipers

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
Industrial semi‐solid casting trials of aluminum A356 brake calipers were performed over five days with the CSIR‐RCS and high‐pressure die casting process cell. Consecutive visual passed castings were used as the measure of process stability, and common defects between trials were categorized.

Combining Metal Additive Manufacturing and Casting Technology: High Performance Cooling Channels for Electric Powertrain Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 16, August 2025.
When realized as inserts in high‐pressure die casting, aluminum cooling channels for electric powertrain components and similar applications typically require a stabilizing filler to survive the process. The present study investigates relinquishing this filler using additively manufactured inserts promising performance improvements.

On the potential of using ensemble learning algorithm to approach the partitioning coefficient (k) value in Scheil–Gulliver equation

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, Volume 2, Issue 3, September 2024.
AI approaches have shown promising skills in predicting solidification parameters associated with alloys, such as the liquidus and solidus temperatures, along with the corresponding solid fraction and partitioning coefficient. The discrepancy between the predicted and measured temperature readings remains remarkably within a 5°C range.
