Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Microstructural characterization of phospholipid membranes and study of their interaction with peptides and proteins. [PDF]
In the present thesis, a wide structural and functional study on biomembranes is presented. The research has been focused on the micro- and mesostructure of phospholipid bilayers and on their interactions with different peptides which are involved in ...

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Optimization of performance parameters of high-contrast subwavelength grating with high reflectivity for bio-sensing applications [PDF]
Highly reflective mirror technologies are majorly required in bio-sensing applications to eliminate complex multiple diffraction orders. In this paper, various grating parameters, i.e. width, thickness, and period are analyzed to get optimized values and

Rain Attenuation Correction of Reflectivity for X-Band Dual-Polarization Radar
In order to improve the performance of X-band dual-polarization radars, it is necessary to conduct attenuation correction before using the X-band radar data.

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

High reflectivity broadband self-pumped phase conjugator in near-infrared wavelengths
A high reflectivity broadband BaTiO₃ self-pumped phase conjugator with external ring cavity in near-infrared wavelengths (706–850 nm) is reported. Phase conjugate reflectivity as high as 77.5% was observed at 756 nm. The losses and the reflection grating

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
