High Strength, High Density Concrete
Abstract : Although high-density concrete found limited use as a shielding material against X-rays before the large-scale development of nuclear reactors and similar devices, the latter have been almost entirely responsible for the research and development that have been done on the production and use of high-density concrete as a shielding material ...

Information Transmission Strategies for Self‐Organized Robotic Aggregation
In this review, we discuss how information transmission influences the neighbor‐based self‐organized aggregation of swarm robots. We focus specifically on local interactions regarding information transfer and categorize previous studies based on the functions of the information exchanged.

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Engineering Performance Of High Strength Concrete Containing Steel Fibre Reinforcement [PDF]
The development and utilization of the high strength concrete in the construction industry have been increasing rapidly. Fiber reinforced concrete is introduced to overcome the weakness of the conventional concrete because concrete normally can crack ...

Nurr1 Orchestrates Claustrum Development and Functionality
Nurr1 (Nr4a2) is the master transcription factor to control claustrum morphogenesis and cell fate decision postmitotically by inhibiting intracellular G‐protein signaling. Nurr1 deficiency alters the transcriptomic profiles of subcortical claustral neurons into neocortical insular neurons, resulting in defected claustrum development, impaired axonal ...

Generalized Mechanism Model for Ecosystem Hysteresis
A simplified model examines ecosystem transitions into alternative states after disturbances by leveraging positive and negative feedbacks. It identifies critical tipping points and quantifies hysteresis. Tests conducted on lakes, grasslands, and pitcher‐plant leaves align closely with empirical data and enable the prediction of recovery trajectories ...

Restrained Shrinkage Cracking of Fiber-Reinforced High-Strength Concrete
Concrete shrinkage and volume reduction happens due to the loss of moisture, which eventually results in cracks and more concrete deformation. In this study, the effect of polypropylene (PP), steel, glass, basalt, and polyolefin fibers on compressive and
