An apparatus for measuring the relative viscosity of molten glass-forming oxides at elevated temperatures and pressures is described. It utilizes a concentric cylinder viscometer and electric furnace enclosed in a steel pressure bomb and is gas pressured.

Diamond Pressure and Temperature Sensors for High-Pressure High-Temperature Applications

A high-pressure high-temperature diamond based sensor has been developed for the use in diamond anvil cells. The electronic structure of the sensor is that of p-i-p unipolar diode with boron doped p-type regions separated by an i-region containing compensated boron acceptors.

An Absolute Noise Thermometer for High Temperatures and High Pressures

A null device for determining the ratio of two absolute temperatures with an accuracy of 0.1 percent is described. This device balances the mean-square fluctuations in voltage across the terminals of two resistors arising from thermal agitation at the temperatures to be compared.

Melting and dissociation of ammonia at high pressure and high temperature

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2012
Raman spectroscopy and synchrotron x-ray diffraction measurements of ammonia (NH3) in laser-heated diamond anvil cells, at pressures up to 60 GPa and temperatures up to 2500 K, reveal that the melting line exhibits a maximum near 37 GPa and intermolecular proton fluctuations substantially increase in the fluid with pressure.
