Effective Theory of High-Temperature Superconductors [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2005
General field theory of a fluctuating d-wave superconductor is constructed and proposed as an effective description of superconducting cuprates at low energies. The theory is used to resolve a puzzle posed by recent experiments on superfluid density in severely underdoped YBCO. In particular, the overall temperature dependence of the superfluid density

Generative Models for Crystalline Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Generative machine learning models are increasingly used in crystalline materials design. This review outlines major generative approaches and assesses their strengths and limitations. It also examines how generative models can be adapted to practical applications, discusses key experimental considerations for evaluating generated structures, and ...

Unveiling intrinsic material and extrinsic pinning dimensionality in superconductors: Why Fe(Se,Te) is able to mimic YBCO

open access: yesiScience
Summary: Discovery of iron-based superconductors paved the way to a competitor of high-temperature superconductors, easier to produce, better performing in high fields, and promising to be less expensive.

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Vortices in high-performance high-temperature superconductors

open access: yesReports on Progress in Physics, 2016
The behavior of vortex matter in high-temperature superconductors (HTS) controls the entire electromagnetic response of the material, including its current carrying capacity. Here, we review the basic concepts of vortex pinning and its application to a complex mixed pinning landscape to enhance the critical current and to reduce its anisotropy.
