High Tibial Osteotomy

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1974
Fifty-one osteoarthritic knees treated by high tibial osteotomy were followed for at least five years. Deterioration after an initial good result was uncommon (five cases). Most of the good results were in knees (thirty of forty-five) with mild varus deformity and good ligament stability.

High Tibial Osteotomy

Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, 2005
High tibial osteotomy is effective for managing a variety of knee conditions, including gonarthrosis with varus or valgus malalignment, osteochondritis dissecans, osteonecrosis, posterolateral instability, and chondral resurfacing. The fundamental goals of the procedure are to unload diseased articular surfaces and to correct angular deformity at the ...

High Tibial Osteotomy

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1988
The results of high tibial osteotomy performed in a 12-year period in 75 patients (88 knees) were followed for at least five years or until failure occurred. Of the 86 knees available for subjective follow-up evaluation, 64 were in men and 22 were in women. Roentgenographic data were available for 75 knees.

Infections after high tibial osteotomy

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2012
AbstractPurposeHigh tibial osteotomy is an established method in the treatment for knee osteoarthritis. Infections are a rare but severe complication that might endanger the clinical, radiological and functional outcome and might require several surgical revisions.MethodsA systematic literature review was performed through PubMed until November 2011 ...

Rehabilitation Following High Tibial Osteotomy

Clinics in Sports Medicine, 2010
Tibial osteotomy is an effective surgical intervention for treating knee malalignment associated with pain or arthrosis in young and active patients. Although the techniques have evolved, the basic principle has been used for many years. The advent of improved fixation devices has allowed for earlier and more aggressive return to activity, resulting in

High Tibial Valgus Osteotomy

Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1986
Thirty-one consecutive high tibial valgus osteotomies for varus gonarthrosis performed by one surgeon using one technique were evaluated to determine correction of deformity, functional result, subjective impression, and subsequent surgery for the same problem. Twenty-five patients had satisfactory follow-up evaluations.

Patellar infera after high tibial osteotomy

The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2001
Forty-six knees in 41 patients that had undergone high tibial osteotomy (HTO) were evaluated to assess the potential correlation between alteration in the inclination of the proximal tibial articular surface and subsequent patellar height. Of the knees examined, 61% lost > or =5 degrees of posterior tibial inclination after HTO, whereas 54% of knees ...

Biomechanics of high tibial osteotomy

Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, 2012
AbstractPurposeThis paper is a review of the biomechanical principles that support limb realignment surgery via osteotomy around the knee, principally high (proximal) tibial osteotomy.MethodsThe basic biomechanical principles have been described, and the related literature examined for evidence to support the recommendations made.ResultsThe forces on ...

Tools for high tibial wedge osteotomy

Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1985
Surgical instruments are described which have been developed for use in high tibial wedge osteotomy. This operation is a treatment for degenerative arthritis of the knee in which one compartment of the joint is predominantly affected resulting in a deformity.

Closing-Wedge Valgus High Tibial Osteotomy

Acta chirurgiae orthopaedicae et traumatologiae Cechoslovaca, 2012
The aim of the study was to evaluate the group of patients treated for varus arthritic knee by the method of high tibial osteotomy from the lateral approach and to assess its role in the present-day orthopaedic surgery which also offers other options such as distraction osteotomy from the medial approach, autologous chondrocyte transplantation or ...
