Real-Time High-Resolution Background Matting [PDF]
We introduce a real-time, high-resolution background replacement technique which operates at 30fps in 4K resolution, and 60fps for HD on a modern GPU. Our technique is based on background matting, where an additional frame of the background is captured and used in recovering the alpha matte and the foreground layer.

Charged-particle timing with 10 ps accuracy using TimeSPOT 3D trench-type silicon pixels
For the next generation of vertex detectors, the accurate measurement of the charged particle timing at the pixel level is considered to be the ultimate solution in experiments operating at very high instantaneous luminosities.

Meteor trail characteristics observed by high time resolution lidar [PDF]
We report and analyse the characteristics of 1382 meteor trails based on a sodium data set of ~ 680 h. The observations were made at Yanqing (115.97° E, 40.47° N), China by a ground-based Na fluorescence lidar.

Design and Optimization of a High-Time-Resolution Magnetic Plasma Analyzer (MPA)
In-situ measurements of space plasma throughout the solar system require high time resolution to understand the plasma’s kinetic fine structure and evolution. In this context, research is conducted to design instruments with the capability to acquire the

Convex optimization of coincidence time resolution for high resolution PET systems [PDF]
We are developing a dual panel breast-dedicated positron emission tomography (PET) system using LSO scintillators coupled to position sensitive avalanche photodiodes (PSAPD). The charge output is amplified and read using NOVA RENA-3 ASICs. This paper shows that the coincidence timing resolution of the RENA-3 ASIC can be improved using certain list-mode

High resolution time of arrival estimation for a cooperative sensor system [PDF]
Distance resolution of cooperative sensors is limited by the signal bandwidth. For the transmission mainly lower frequency bands are used which are more narrowband than classical radar frequencies. To compensate this resolution problem the combination of

High resolution time delay estimation [PDF]
A new method is presented for estimating the arrival times of deterministic signal pulses that are separated by less than the duration of the signal autocorrelation function. The method is based on the observation that if the signal has a flat band-limited spectrum, then the maximum-likelihood estimator for the signal time of arrivals can be ...

High‐time‐resolution imaging of transient discharge processes without fixed triggering
Higher time resolution imaging is vital for exploring the microscopic mechanisms of the discharge process. The transient processes of discharge phenomena occur in a short time, and the onset cannot be predicted in advance, thus not providing a trigger ...
