On type-I migration near opacity transitions. A generalized Lindblad torque formula for planetary population synthesis

open access: yes, 2012
We give an expression for the Lindblad torque acting on a low-mass planet embedded in a protoplanetary disk that is valid even at locations where the surface density or temperature profile cannot be approximated by a power law, such as an opacity ...

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Research on the Influence of Key Parameters of High-Speed Hairpin Permanent-Magnet Motors for Electric Vehicles on Electromagnetic Performance

open access: yesMachines
High-speed operation is a key pathway to higher power density in modern EV traction systems, and multi-parameter optimization is essential for enhancing its high-speed performance. This study investigates a 20,000 r/min interior double-V permanent-magnet

Type I planet migration in nearly laminar disks - long term behavior

open access: yes, 2010
We carry out 2-D high resolution numerical simulations of type I planet migration with different disk viscosities. We find that the planet migration is strongly dependent on disk viscosities.

Fully Wireless and Flexible Valves for Multiplexed and Prolonged Intravesical Liquid Release

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A fundamental mechanism for the simultaneous control of multiple magnetic valves is reported in a miniature soft robotic patch for intravesical drug delivery, enabling fully wireless and programmable liquid release. Integrated with a bioadhesive interface and induction‐coupling‐based liquid volume sensing, the soft robotic patch is promising to enable ...

The Effect of Poloidal Magnetic Field on Type I Planetary Migration: Significance of Magnetic Resonance

open access: yes, 2008
We study the effect of poloidal magnetic field on type I planetary migration by linear perturbation analysis in the shearing-sheet approximation and the analytic results are compared with numerical calculations.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

A quantitative comparison between BLDC, PMSM, brushed DC and stepping motor technologies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Brushless DC machines (BLDC), Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM), Stepping Motors and Brushed DC machines (BDC) usage is ubiquitous in the power range below 1,5kW. There is a lot of common knowledge on these technologies.

Evolution of inclined planets in three-dimensional radiative discs

open access: yes, 2011
While planets in the solar system only have a low inclination with respect to the ecliptic there is mounting evidence that in extrasolar systems the inclination can be very high, at least for close-in planets.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.
