Higher Order Aberrations in Children with Down Syndrome
Down syndrome (DS) is associated with ocular abnormalities and reduced visual function. Studies report atypical optical structures in the DS eye such as thinner, steeper corneae and thinner crystalline lenses and, functionally, a degrading influence of the optics on acuity. This study further investigates optical quality in DS by comparing higher order

Background Advancements in ophthalmic surgery now hinge on intricate interplays among ocular parameters. Angle kappa, measuring deviation between visual and pupillary axes, is crucial, especially in refractive procedures with multifocal intraocular ...

Impact of higher-order aberrations on depth-of-field
It is well known that depth-of-focus (DOF) is influenced by optical factors (such as pupil size and monochromatic aberrations). However, neural factors such as blur sensitivity and defocus adaptation may play an important role on the extent of DOF.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Ocular higher-order aberrations and visual performance [PDF]
Since adaptive optics was first used to correct the monochromatic aberrations of the eye over a decade ago there has been considerable interest in correcting the ocular aberrations beyond defocus and astigmatism.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Analysis of Corneal Topography and Wavefront Aberrations after Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty
In this prospective, interventional study, the effect of upper eyelid blepharoplasty (UEB) surgery performed on dermatochalasis patients on the cornea was investigated by corneal topography, and its effect on visual function was investigated by examining

Progression of lower and higher-order aberrations: a longitudinal study [PDF]
The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of near-work on lower and higher-order aberrations, and its progression over a 9-month period during the school year.Data from 24 young-adult myopic eyes, and 24 non-myopic eyes were used in this investigation.
