Impact of higher‐order ionospheric terms on GPS estimates [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2005
Dual frequency GPS observables only allow the elimination of the 1st–order ionospheric term. Although higher–order ionospheric terms may cause a range bias of several centimeters, accounting for such effects is not yet a common strategy for GPS data analysis.

Oscillation and nonoscillation of two terms linear and half-linear equations of higher order

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2010
In this paper we investigate the properties of nonoscillation for the equation $$(-1)^{n}(\rho(t)|y^{(n)}|^{p-2}y^{(n)})^{(n)}-v(t)|y|^{p-2}y=0,$$ where ...

Generalized XY Models with Arbitrary Number of Phase Transitions

open access: yesEntropy
We propose spin models that can display an arbitrary number of phase transitions. The models are based on the standard XY model, which is generalized by including higher-order nematic terms with exponentially increasing order and linearly increasing ...

Critical Combinations of Higher-Order Terms in Einstein-Maxwell Theory and Compactification

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2015
We discuss the role of a particular combination of higher derivative terms in higher dimensional theories, particularly in the background of spontaneous compactification. Two classes of theories are proposed in this paper.

Quantification and parametrization of non-linearity effects by higher-order sensitivity terms in scattered light differential optical absorption spectroscopy [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Measurement Techniques, 2016
We address the application of differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS) of scattered light observations in the presence of strong absorbers (in particular ozone), for which the absorption optical depth is a non-linear function of the trace gas ...

The Effects of Higher-Order Ionospheric Terms on GPS Tropospheric Delay and Gradient Estimates

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
Atmospheric delays, e.g., ionospheric delay and tropospheric delay, are the dominant error sources for the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), especially for Precise Point Positioning (PPP).

Positive solutions of higher-order Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems with fully nonlinear terms

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
In this paper we consider the existence of positive solutions of nth-order Sturm–Liouville boundary value problems with fully nonlinear terms, in which the nonlinear term f involves all of the derivatives u′,…,u(n−1) $u',\ldots, u^{(n-1)}$ of the unknown

Global attractivity of a higher order nonlinear difference equation with decreasing terms

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations
In the present paper, we further study the asymptotical behavior of the following higher order nonlinear difference equation \begin{equation*} x(n+1)= ax(n)+ bf( x(n)) + cf(x(n-k)), \qquad n=0, 1, \dots \end{equation*} where $a, b $ and $c$ are constants

Partial Dynamical Symmetry in Quantum Hamiltonians with Higher-Order Terms [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2009
A generic procedure is proposed to construct many-body quantum Hamiltonians with partial dynamical symmetry. It is based on a tensor decomposition of the Hamiltonian and allows the construction of a hierarchy of interactions that have selected classes of solvable states.

Black Hole Thermodynamics and Generalized Uncertainty Principle with Higher Order Terms in Momentum Uncertainty

open access: yesAdvances in High Energy Physics, 2018
We study the modification of thermodynamic properties of Schwarzschild and Reissner-Nordström black hole in the framework of generalized uncertainty principle with correction terms up to fourth order in momentum uncertainty. The mass-temperature relation
