Quantum-Inspired Hierarchy for Rank-Constrained Optimization

open access: yesPRX Quantum, 2022
Many problems in information theory can be reduced to optimizations over matrices, where the rank of the matrices is constrained. We establish a link between rank-constrained optimization and the theory of quantum entanglement.

HIGHER-RANK GRAPHS AND THEIR $C^*$-ALGEBRAS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 2003
AbstractWe consider the higher-rank graphs introduced by Kumjian and Pask as models for higher-rank Cuntz–Krieger algebras. We describe a variant of the Cuntz–Krieger relations which applies to graphs with sources, and describe a local convexity condition which characterizes the higher-rank graphs that admit a non-trivial Cuntz–Krieger family.

THE ANALYTIC ALGEBRAS OF HIGHER RANK GRAPHS [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy, 2006
The authors consider a class of non-selfadjoint operator algebras arising from higher rank graphs and their norm closed subalgebras. In addition, eigenvalues, reflexivity, hyper-reflexivity and semisimplicity of the higher rank semigroupoid algebras are examined.

Kumjian-Pask algebras of higher-rank graphs [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 2013
We introduce higher-rank analogues of the Leavitt path algebras, which we call the Kumjian-Pask algebras. We prove graded and Cuntz-Krieger uniqueness theorems for these algebras, and analyze their ideal structure.

A Method to Learn Embedding of a Probabilistic Medical Knowledge Graph: Algorithm Development

open access: yesJMIR Medical Informatics, 2020
BackgroundKnowledge graph embedding is an effective semantic representation method for entities and relations in knowledge graphs. Several translation-based algorithms, including TransE, TransH, TransR, TransD, and TranSparse, have been proposed to learn

Visualizing ordered bivariate data on node-link diagrams

open access: yesVisual Informatics, 2023
Node-link visual representation is a widely used tool that allows decision-makers to see details about a network through the appropriate choice of visual metaphor.

Magnitude of COVID-19 deaths relative to other leading causes of death: a global analysis

open access: yesBMJ Open, 2022
Objectives To quantify the burden of death that COVID-19 contributes relative to the top three causes of death for all countries.Design We performed uncertainty analyses and created contour plots for COVID-19 mortality to place the number of COVID-19 ...

BRANCHING SYSTEMS FOR HIGHER-RANK GRAPH C*-ALGEBRAS [PDF]

open access: yesGlasgow Mathematical Journal, 2018
AbstractWe define branching systems for finitely aligned higher-rank graphs. From these, we construct concrete representations of higher-rank graph C*-algebras on Hilbert spaces. We prove a generalized Cuntz–Krieger uniqueness theorem for periodic single-vertex 2-graphs.

Mining Spatial Correlation Patterns of the Urban Functional Areas in Urban Agglomeration: A Case Study of Four Typical Urban Agglomerations in China

open access: yesLand, 2022
Urban agglomeration is a higher stage of urban development. Exploring the spatial correlation of functional areas is important for promoting high-quality urban development. However, recently the research on urban functional areas is mainly focused on how
