Adaptive Estimation for Weakly Dependent Functional Times Series

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We propose adaptive mean and autocovariance function estimators for stationary functional time series under 𝕃p−m‐approximability assumptions. These estimators are designed to adapt to the regularity of the curves and to accommodate both sparse and dense data designs.

Spectrum Sensing Based on Higher Order Cumulants and Kurtosis Statistics Tests in Cognitive Radio [PDF]

open access: yesRadioengineering, 2019
In this paper, new algorithms for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio based on higher order cumulants and kurtosis are proposed. The cumulants represent statistical signal processing based on pattern recognition for signals of different structure, and ...

Fiscal policy and economic activity: new causal evidence

open access: yesThe Scandinavian Journal of Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Utilizing a quasi‐natural experiment design, we identify an exogenous cut in local taxes accompanied by an equivalent reduction in local government spending, and we estimate the impact of these exogenous changes on income. We exploit a unique regional dataset that combines local income data with local voting outcomes on current expense tax ...

Bioinspired, Guanidinium, and Indole Modified Poly(glycidyl ether)s as Highly Efficient Vectors for Polyplex‐Mediated Gene Delivery

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 6, 20 March 2026.
Guanidinium‐ and indole‐functionalized poly(glycidyl ether)s were developed as non‐viral gene delivery vectors with tunable hydrophilic–hydrophobic balance. All polymers formed stable DNA polyplexes, while moderate indole content yielded the highest transfection efficiency at low N/P ratios.

Quantification of Alkali‐Fluoride Nanoparticle Dissolution in Aqueous Media as a Function of Crystallinity and Surface Modification

open access: yesParticle &Particle Systems Characterization, Volume 43, Issue 3, March 2026.
Fluoride release kinetics from uncoated and coated ÎČ−NaYF4$\ubeta-{\rm NaYF}_4$ and LiYF4${\rm LiYF}_4$ in aqueous solutions are quantified using an ion‐selective electrode coupled to a dialysis compartment. TEM/DLS/ICP‐OES and speciation‐aware modeling complement the fluoride release results.

On moments of the derivative of CUE characteristic polynomials and the Riemann zeta function

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract We study the derivative of the characteristic polynomial of N×N$N \times N$ Haar‐distributed unitary matrices. We obtain new explicit formulae for complex‐valued moments when the spectral variable is inside the unit disc, in the limit N→∞$N \rightarrow \infty$.

Next‐Generation Bio‐Reducible Lipids Enable Enhanced Vaccine Efficacy in Malaria and Primate Models

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 11, 5 February 2026.
Structure–activity relationship (SAR) optimization of bio‐reducible ionizable lipids enables the development of highly effective lipid nanoparticle (LNP) mRNA vaccines. Lead LNPs show superior tolerability and antibody responses in rodents and primates, outperforming approved COVID‐19 vaccine lipids.

Néel Tensor Torque in Polycrystalline Antiferromagnets

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 9, 12 February 2026.
This work introduces a NĂ©el tensor torque based on a rank‐two symmetric tensor capturing spin correlations in a polycrystalline antiferromagnet. It shows the NĂ©el tensor can be shaped and reshaped through the spin‐orbit torque (SOT) technique, enabling field‐free SOT switching with a specific polarity of the adjacent ferromagnet. This discovery opens a

Porous Iridium Oxide Inverse Opal Catalysts Enable Efficient PEM Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 11, 20 February 2026.
Porous iridium‐based inverse opal (IrOx‐IO) structures are introduced as high‐performance, unsupported PEM‐WE anode catalysts. Their electrochemical behavior is analyzed through porosity/surface area tuning, voltage breakdown, and circuit modeling.

What Insights Do Short-Maturity (7DTE) Return Predictive Regressions Offer about Risk Preferences in the Oil Market?

open access: yesCommodities
In this study, we investigate the ability of three higher-order risk-neutral return cumulants to predict short maturity (weekly) returns of oil futures. Our data includes weekly West Texas Crude Oil futures options that expire in 7 days (7DTE).
