Computers & Structures, 2008
An analytical solution, based on a higher order shear and normal deformation theory, is presented for the cylindrical flexure of piezoelectric plates. The primary displacement terms are expanded in thickness coordinate and an exact nature of electric potential is obtained in actuator and sensing layers.

Vibration of a bimodulus thick plate according to a higher-order shear deformation theory
AIAA Journal, 1988Equations of motion of a simply supported rectangular bimodulus thick plate in which the higher-order shear deformation terms are included are derived. The governing equations obtained using the average stress method are solved in exact form. The natural frequencies are compared with the previous results obtained for ordinary thick plates, and with the

Shape optimization of axisymmetric shells using a higher-order shear deformation theory
Structural Optimization, 1995In this paper structural and sensitivity analysis for the optimization of laminated axisymmetric shells subjected to static constraints and arbitrary loading is presented. The shell thickness, radial coordinate of a nodal point, lamina thickness and the angle of orientation of the fibers are the design variables.

A New Higher Order Shear and Normal Deformation Theory for Bending of Thick Beams
2023The objective of this thesis is to introduce a novel higher order shear and normal deformationtheory for analysing the bending behaviour of thick beams. The proposed theory surpasses theaccuracy of existing higher order beam theories by incorporating a fifth order shape function, determined through comprehensive MATLAB simulations.

An improved higher-order theory is developed for the stress analysis of laminated transversely isotropic plates and shells subject to transverse shear deformation and normal compression. The theory is capable of analyzing the stress-strain behavior of layered plates and shells with an arbitrary number and sequence of layers which may differ ...
