The interaction between rhizobia and their legume host plants conduces to the formation of specialized root organs called nodules where rhizobia differentiate into bacteroids which fix atmospheric nitrogen to the benefit of the plant. This beneficial symbiosis is of importance in the context of sustainable agriculture as legumes do not require the ...

SIAM Journal on Discrete Mathematics, 1999
The paper considers the problem of constructing roads of minimum total length to interconnect existing highways under the constraint that the roads can intersect each highway only at one point, called an exit, and in a designated interval which is a line segment, including the two extreme cases where the interval is a line or a point.

Abstract This paper shows that: (i)there are quite simple methods for obtaining undecidability results in modal logics with more than one operator; and (ii) there are standard methods of simulating polymodal logics by monomodal logics which allow us to transfer the undecidability results of (i) to monomodal logics.
