Advanced Feature Analysis of Eddy Current Testing Signals for Rail Surface Defect Characterization

open access: yesIEEE Access
The maintenance of the railways is of paramount importance for safe and reliable transport. Eddy Current Testing (ECT) provides high-resolution time-series signals that capture subtle anomalies on the rail surface. This paper expands on previous analyses

Segmentation of Killer Whale Vocalizations Using the Hilbert-Huang Transform

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2008
The study of cetacean vocalizations is usually based on spectrogram analysis. The feature extraction is obtained from 2D methods like the edge detection algorithm.

Gear Fault Diagnosis Method Based on Deep Transfer Learning

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2023
Aiming at the problem of insufficient gear fault samples, a fault diagnosis method of transfer learning based on Hilbert-Huang spectrum and pre-trained VGG16 model is proposed.

Improvement of the Nonlinear Damage Mathematical Model for Steel Components in Bridge Under Complex Stress

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To investigate the relationship between load, damage, and fatigue life of complex engineering components under stress, this paper modifies the existing continuous nonlinear damage model based on the distortion energy density theory to reflect the usage and stress characteristics of Q345 steel components in bridges.

Study on the Crack Propagation Behavior and Patterns of High‐Speed Railway Bridges Under High‐Speed Train Loading

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This study focuses on simply supported railway box girder bridges with pre‐existing cracks under high‐speed train loading. A vehicle–bridge coupled vibration model is established, and three‐dimensional dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack tip under various loading conditions are obtained using the interaction integral method.

Identification of Driving Workload in Plateau Environment: A Naturalistic Driving Study

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Maintaining driving workload (DWL) at an appropriate level is crucial for preventing driver‐related crashes. However, the unique conditions of plateau environments significantly impact DWL, increasing driving risks. Research on DWL identification, particularly in real‐world plateau driving scenarios, remains limited.

Comparative analysis of series fault arc detection methods

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
For uncertainty of line fault location, current series fault arc detection methods are mainly based on current signal analysis. By comparing current waveforms before and after series arc fault under different loads, characteristics and regularities of ...

Exploring Nociceptive–Analgesic Balance and EEG Modulation Patterns During General Anesthesia Using Holo‐Hilbert Spectral Analysis

open access: yesPain Research and Management, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Intraoperative EEG provides a noninvasive window into cortical dynamics under anesthesia, but conventional spectral analysis cannot capture nonstationary modulation patterns linked to nociceptive processing. This study applied Holo‐Hilbert spectral analysis (HHSA) to characterize cross‐frequency modulation patterns in relation to the ...
