Random Lie bracket on sl2(Fp)

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 68, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT We study a random walk on the Lie algebra sl2(Fp)$$ {\mathfrak{sl}}_2\left({\mathbf{F}}_p\right) $$ where new elements are produced by randomly applying adjoint operators of two generators. Focusing on the generic case where the generators are selected at random, we analyze the limiting distribution of the random walk and the speed at which it

Soft Interferometric Nanostrain Sensor Reveals Solid‐Liquid Interfacial Tension Oscillation Amplified by Competitive Adsorption

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 6, 27 January 2026.
An interferometric nanostrain sensor is developed to investigate unlabeled protein adsorption by directly measuring real‐time interfacial tensions at unprecedented resolution (<0.25 mN m−1). A high‐frequency, low‐amplitude oscillation of the interfacial tension is found to be superimposed over the Langmuir adsorption.

Rupture Directivity From Energy Envelope Deconvolution: Theory and Application to 58 Ridgecrest M 3.5–5.5 Earthquakes

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Earthquake rupture directivity impacts ground motions and provides insights on fault zone properties and earthquake physics. However, measuring directivity of small earthquakes is challenging due to their compact rupture sizes and complex path and site effects at high frequencies.

Effective Variable‐Speed Bearing Fault Diagnosis From Motor Current Signals Using Kurtosis‐Guided VMD and Multi‐Branch Convolutional Neural Network

open access: yesIET Control Theory &Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This study presents a novel deep learning‐based fault classification framework utilising Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) for adaptive feature extraction and a Multi‐branch Convolutional Neural Network (M1D‐CNN) architecture for classification. The VMD hyperparameters were optimised based on kurtosis to ensure the extraction of the most informative

Imagined Chinese Speech Decoding Based on Initials and Finals From EEG Activity

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Brain‐computer interface (BCI) plays an important role in various fields, such as neuroscience, rehabilitation, and machine learning. The silent BCI, which can reconstruct inner speech from neural activity, holds great promise for aphasia patients. In this paper, we design an imagined Chinese speech experimental paradigm based on initials and finals ...
