Pollination by long‐proboscid horseflies and its implications for reproductive isolation among coflowering Satyrium orchids in South Africa

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, Volume 113, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Premise Floral adaptations to pollinators can drive lineage diversification and promote coexistence of species. We investigated the reproductive biology of Satyrium longicolle, a South African orchid that we hypothesized to belong to a long‐proboscid horsefly pollination guild and examined overlap of pollinators and floral traits among ...

Geological processes shaping freshwater biodiversity: a synthesis of global evidence

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 3, Page 1568-1581, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent genomic data highlight the key roles of geological processes in shaping the diversification and biogeography of freshwater lineages. Specifically, physical processes such as tectonic uplift, erosion, glaciation, lake formation, and sea‐level fluctuation contribute extensively to the evolution of biotic diversity within and among ...

Learning From Disaster: Evaluating Pakistan's First National Adaptation Plan for Flood Risk Management

open access: yesClimate Resilience and Sustainability, Volume 5, Issue 1, June 2026.
Pakistan's National Adaptation Plan (NAP) is assessed against lessons derived from the 2010 and 2022 Indus Basin floods through a systematic review of 35 studies. While the NAP scores above the global average on established quality criteria, it remains infrastructure‐centric, with limited integration of nature‐based solutions, local knowledge, and ...

Tree Cover and Temperature Shape the Distribution of Epiphytic Pleurozia in Asia: Forest Havens in a Warming Climate

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
This study uses an optimized MaxEnt model to predict the potential distribution of Pleurozia across Asia under current and future climate scenarios. Our results show that evergreen broadleaf forest cover, temperature annual range, mean diurnal range, and altitude are the key environmental determinants, and that suitable habitats are projected to expand
