The Short Life of Upvalley Wind in a High‐Altitude Valley in the Colorado Rocky Mountains
Abstract Thermally driven upvalley (UV) wind in the upper East River Valley in the Colorado Rocky Mountains often unexpectedly stops in midmorning and reverses back to downvalley (DV) wind. We use a comprehensive observational data set for a nearly two‐year long period to analyze the wind system and boundary layer evolution in this high‐altitude valley

ABSTRACT Climate drivers such as the El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) can impact multiple sectors globally. We are currently witnessing the effects of these teleconnections against the backdrop of a changing climate. This systematic review takes stock of the available evidence on compounding and cascading effects of

Inventory incompleteness of wetland plants on the Qinghai‐Tibet Plateau is relatively low. Safety variables are the most important factors influencing inventory incompleteness. Landslide index, slope, species richness and livestock density are the main variables influencing inventory incompleteness.

ABSTRACT Research in geocryology is currently principally concerned with the effects of climate change on permafrost terrain. The motivations for most of the research are (1) quantification of the anticipated net emissions of CO2 and CH4 from warming and thaw of near‐surface permafrost and (2) mitigation of effects on infrastructure of such warming and

Use of camera traps to record wild red panda activity in eastern Nepal
We used trail cameras to monitor wild red panda in eastern Nepal. Red panda activity and behavior types were successfully measured. Cameras placed in trees were 8 times more effective at detecting red panda behavior than cameras placed at ground level facing horizontally.

Abstract Global cooling during the Late Cenozoic led to periodic glaciations in many mountain regions. The repeated waxing and waning of glaciers and ice sheets resulted in continuously changing erosion regimes that modified the underlying topography.

Abstract Several studies have attributed the rapid drying during flash droughts to vapor pressure deficit (VPD) by using VPD anomaly based metrics. In this study, we use an analytical approach to investigate the role of VPD in the depletion of soil moisture through evapotranspiration (ET) and evaluate if the anomalies reflect its actual contribution ...
